7 Cleaning & Maintenance

Cleaning of the Boiler

Pellux 100 is cleaned automatically, but also requires
regular manual cleaning. We recommend carrying out
manual cleaning every 7 days, but this process cannot
be carried out less frequently than once a month. The
interval of cleaning depends upon many factors, e.g.
fuel quality, boiler settings, etc.
Automatic Cleaning of the Boiler
The boiler is provided with an automatic soot remov-
al system from flue gas ducts (smoke tubes). This
makes it easier to maintain the purity and efficiency
of the boiler during its operation.
Automatic cleaning is carried out by the movement
of turbulators in the convection part; this motion is
forced by the drive motor of the soot cleaning unit.
The soot layer accumulated on the walls of the con-
vection channels is scraped from them and falls into
the soot container.

Manual Cleaning of the Boiler
IMPORTANT
Manual cleaning may only be performed after the fur-
nace has been extinguished and the boiler tempera-
ture drops to ambient temperature. Use personal pro-
tective equipment when cleaning.
IMPORTANT
The electrical power supply of the boiler must be dis-
connected during the inspection and cleaning.
Close the chimney draught before starting manual
cleaning. This is to prevent the soot from escaping
into the boiler room during cleaning. Reopen it after
cleaning.
Manual cleaning is carried out by pulling the soot
brush through the boiler convection channels (smoke
tubes), after the disassembly of the turbulators. To re-
move flue gas turbulators, do the following:
1. Open the washout hole (remove the external
knobs and use the internal ones as handles).
2. Pull away the movable arm under the pair of tur-
bulators in such a way that they are in their high-
est position.
3. Remove the flue gas turbulators by lifting them
holding by the connectors.
4. Clean the turbulators from soot after removing
them from the boiler flue gas ducts.

Turbulators
The soot removed from the boiler convection ducts
collects in the soot container, which is located in the
bottom of the boiler, behind the ash container.
After cleaning, put the ash and soot containers in
place and close the door. Put back the flue gas turbu-
lators into place and close the washout hole.

IMPORTANT
The ash may still contain smouldering fuel particles.
When emptying the ashtray, wear protective clothing
and store the ash in a non-flammable container.
