1 Introduction
The Sandberg Multi Hard Disk Box 2.5" (referred
to as "the box") lets you use a 2.5" IDE or SATA
hard disk as a portable external hard disk. The
box connects to your computer either via USB
2.0 or eSATA, giving you speeds of up to 3 Gb
per second (IDE hard disks cannot, however, be
connected with eSATA). If your computer doesn't
already have eSATA, you can use the adapter
bracket supplied to convert an internal SATA
port to an eSATA port.
2 Fitting
2.1 Fitting a hard disk
1. Remove the rear panel of the box and pull
out the printed circuit board (PCB).
2. Connect your hard disk to the corresponding
connector on the PCB.
3. Turn over the PCB and use the screws provided
to fasten the hard disk into the screw holes.
Insert the PCB with the hard disk attached into
the box and screw the rear panel on.
3 Connection
Boot your computer and start Windows, and
follow the connection instructions below:
NOTE: The connected hard disk must be
formatted/partitioned before it can be recognised
by Windows.
3.1 USB connection
1. Connect the small connector of the USB cable
to the "USB" port on the box, and connect
the other end with two USB connectors to the
two USB ports on your computer. One
connector provides power to the hard disk
while the other connector is for data transfer.
3.2 eSATA connection (only possible with a
SATA hard disk)
1. Connect one end of the eSATA cable to the
"eSATA" port on the box and connect the
other end to the eSATA port on your computer.
2. Connect the round connector of the power
cable to the "DC" port on the box and the
USB connector of the power cable to a USB
port on your computer, so that the hard disk
can receive power.
NOTE: If the computer only has internal SATA
ports, you can use the adapter bracket supplied
to convert one of them into an eSATA port which
you can run to the back of your computer.

4 Installation

4.1 Installation in Windows
When you turn on the box, a new drive is created
on your computer. You can use this drive in the
same way as any other drive on your computer.
4.2 Installation in Mac OS
1. The dialog box "Do you want to use "(null)"
for backup with Time Machine?" appears.
2. Click "Cancel" if you do not want to use the
hard disk for backup. A new drive is created
on your computer. You can use this drive in
the same way as any other drive on your
