Safety notes
General safety instructions
1. Install the device in accordance with the instructions of the manufacturer and the standards
and regulations applicable to your area.
At ambient temperatures greater than 70 °C, suitable cables, wires or conductors for conduit

3. The housing has to have a connection for a protective ground or potential matching line, or be
installed in a grounded metal piping system or tank.
4. The device must be set up in such a way that a source of ignition caused by impact or friction
between the metal and housing is ruled out, even in rare instances.
5. The device should never be used for hybrid mixtures (gas, dust, air).
6. When installing, make sure that the housing and cable glands used meet the requirements of
EN 61421-0 as per Category II3D.
7. Clean the housing regularly to avoid a layer of dust accumulating on the housing.
8. The device should never be opened in a potentially explosive atmosphere in an energized state.
(It must be ensured that the degree of housing protection required is maintained during ope-
ration).
Safety instructions for Ex iaD explosion protection
1. In the case of Ex iaD explosion protection, the power must be supplied with an associated elec-
trical apparatus.
2. A housing that maintains a degree of protection of at least IP 6x as per EN 60529 must be used.
3. The immersion of the sensor in flammable dust with a dust layer smoldering temperature gre-
ater than 200ºC is allowed.
Safety instructions for Ex tD explosion protection
1. In the event of conductive dust, a housing that maintains a degree of protection of at least IP
6x as per EN 60529 must be used.
2. In the event of nonconductive dust, a housing that maintains a degree of protection of at least
IP 54 as per EN 60529 must be used.
