j) Controlling the car

Operate the throttle lever (13) very carefully and do not drive too fast at the beginning until you get used to
how the car responds.
Do not make any fast or sudden movements with the throttle lever (13) or the steering dial (8).
• The steering dial (8) is used to steer the vehicle. Just like with a real car a left turn is for a left bend, a right turn is for
a right bend. If necessary the settings of the servo-reverse switch (3) are to be corrected.
• The dual-rate control (12) is used to limit the steering angle. This means, the turning circle can be made smaller or
bigger. For slow driving small turning circles are useful, for fast driving the opposite setting enables more sensitive
steering.
• The throttle lever (13) is for controlling forward and reverse drive. If the lever is pulled in the direction of the handle
with the index finger (only pull carefully for first road trials!) the vehicle must drive forward. If the lever is pushed in the
other direction the vehicle will reverse.
The setting might have to be corrected using the servo reverse switch (4).
When changing between going forward and reverse, the lever has to be briefly (approx. 1 second) in the
centre position (centre position = motor not moving).
If the lever is directly pushed from forward to reverse, the brake function of the drive is activated (vehicle
will NOT reverse).
Examples:
1. Release lever, vehicle rolls to a halt (or doesn't move).
2. Drive forwards, slowly pull the lever towards the handle
3. Going forward and then braking (vehicle decelerates; does not roll slowly to a halt); slide throttle lever rapidly away
from the handle
4. Going forward and then going in reverse (wait briefly between changes, approx. 1 second!)
