IDE or SCSI cables should not be bundled in the interior of the PC. Signal reflec-
tions might lead to data transmission problems (e.g. loss of speed etc.).
• Attach the connecting cables correctly. Wrongly attached IDE cables may damage
the IDE device as well as the motherboard.
• Cover all unused case slots by slot plates.
Only push out panel holes that you really need.
The same applies to the 5.25" and 3.5" front access bays.
• Additional fans in the case can significantly reduce the heat in the ATX case interi-
or with continuously running servers. Hard disks, dissipating more heat, should not
be mounted one directly on top of the other. Use an additional hard disk fan, if
necessary.
This fan should optimally blow the air directly from the front onto the hard disk in
order to cool the upper as well as the lower surface of the hard disk.
Coolers on the graphic chip or cooling the graphic chips using case fans contribu-
te to operational safety and reliability.
• Ensure that the PC is sufficiently secured when transporting it (imagine what an
effect it could have, if you slam on the brakes with your PC being placed unsecu-
red on the back seats of your car.)
With heavy heat sinks, vibrations could cause the CPU mounting mechanism to
break off and the heat sink to fall off.
