Bestimmungsgemäße Verwendung
Das Produkt ist zum Einbau in einen PCI-Slot eines PC-kompatiblen Computer vor-
gesehen und stellt dort zwei zusätzliche RS232-Ports und einen Parallelport zur
Verfügung.

Konfiguration
Einbau
Falls Sie keine Fachkenntnisse für den Einbau besitzen, so lassen Sie
den Einbau von einer FACHKRAFT oder einer entsprechenden
Fachwerkstatt durchführen!
Durch unsachgemäßen Einbau wird sowohl die Steckkarte als auch
Ihr Computer und alle angeschlossenen Geräte beschädigt.
Vorsicht, Lebensgefahr!
Schalten Sie den Computer, in den das Produkt eingebaut werden soll
und alle angeschlossenen Geräte aus und trennen Sie alle Geräte von
der Netzspannung, ziehen Sie den Netzstecker! Das Ausschalten über
den Ein-/Ausschalter genügt nicht!
• Schrauben Sie das Gehäuse Ihres Computers auf und nehmen Sie den
Gehäusedeckel vorsichtig ab.
• Entfernen Sie ein Slotblech und stecken Sie die PCI-Karte in einen freien PCI-
Steckplatz, schrauben Sie sie fest. Kontrollieren Sie, ob die Steckkarte richtig im
Steckplatz sitzt.
• Wenn Sie die RS232-Schnittstellen nutzen wollen, so entfernen Sie erneut ein
Slotblech und schrauben das Slotblech mit den beiden 9pol. SubD-
Steckern/Flachbandkabel dort fest. Sie könnten die beiden 9pol. SubD-Stecker
auch ohne Slotblech in einem entsprechenden Gehäuseausschnitt Ihres PC-
Gehäuses festschrauben.
Stecken Sie dann die beiden Flachbandkabel korrekt auf die Stiftleisten auf (Pin
1 des Flachbandkabels ist farbig markiert, Pin 1 der Stiftleiste siehe im Bild oben).
• Schrauben Sie den Computer wieder zu.

• Verbinden Sie Ihren Computer und Monitor wieder mit der Netzspannung und
schalten Sie alle Geräte ein.
• Startet Ihr Computer nicht korrekt, so schalten Sie ihn sofort aus und kontrollie-
ren Sie sämtliche Einstellungen und Kabelverbindungen.
Vor dem erneuten Öffnen des PCs ist der PC von der Netzspannung zu trennen,
siehe oben!
a) Windows 98/98SE
Nach dem Start von Windows 98 findet die Hardwareerkennung die
Schnittstellenkarte. Klicken Sie auf "Weiter". Wählen Sie "Nach dem besten Treiber
für das Gerät suchen (empfohlen)" und dann auf "Weiter". Klicken Sie auf "Geben
Sie eine Position an", klicken Sie auf "Durchsuchen".
Wählen Sie das CDROM-Laufwerk mit der Treiber-CD aus, wählen Sie dann das
Verzeichnis "NetMOS", darin das Verzeichnis "NM9835M" und dann das
Verzeichnis "win98". Klicken Sie auf "Ok" und dann auf "Weiter".
Windows 98 findet nun den Treiber. Folgen Sie allen weiteren Anweisungen.
Danach ist ein Neustart erforderlich.
b) Windows ME
Nachdem Windows das Gerät über die Hardware-Erkennung gefunden hat, klicken
Sie auf "Position des Treibers angeben (Erweitert)"; klicken Sie auf "Weiter".
Entfernen Sie das Häkchen bei "Wechselmedien (Diskette, CD-ROM,..."!
Klicken Sie auf "Geben Sie eine Position an" und dann auf "Durchsuchen".
Wählen Sie das CDROM-Laufwerk mit der Treiber-CD aus, wählen Sie dann das
Verzeichnis "NetMOS", darin das Verzeichnis "NM9835M" und dann das
Verzeichnis "winme". Klicken Sie auf "Ok" und dann auf "Weiter".
Folgen Sie allen weiteren Anweisungen.
Danach ist ein Neustart erforderlich.
c) Windows XP
Der benötigte Treiber befindet sich im Verzeichnis "NetMOS\NM9835M\winxp".
Folgen Sie allen Anweisungen von Windows XP.
Windows XP meldet bei der Installation des Treibers, dass die Treiber nicht von
Microsoft zertifiziert sind. Sie müssen diese Meldung akzeptieren, damit die
Treiberinstallation fortfährt.
Tips & Hinweise
• An die Schnittstellen dürfen nur Geräte angesteckt werden, die dafür geeignet
sind, also an eine serielle/parallele Schnittstelle angeschlossen werden dürfen.
• Stecken Sie nur dann Geräte oder Kabel an die Schnittstellen der Steckkarte an,
wenn sowohl Ihr Computer als auch alle anderen Geräte ausgeschaltet sind.
Gleiches gilt, wenn Sie Geräte oder Kabel abstecken wollen.
• IRQs auf dem PCI-Bus können normalerweise für mehrere Geräte gleichzeitig
genutzt werden. Allerdings gibt es viele Steckkarten, die dann Probleme machen
(z.B. TV-Karten). Falls dies bei Ihnen auftritt, so können Sie im BIOS/Setup des
PCs ggf. die IRQs den einzelnen PCI-Slots fest zuweisen, siehe Handbuch zu
Ihrem Motherboard.
• Manche Parallelport-Geräte funktionieren nicht an anderen IRQs als 7 oder 5,
bzw. an anderen I/O-Adressen als 378h/278h. Dies gilt ebenso für RS232-Geräte,
die nur an IRQ3 oder 4, bzw. an I/O-Adressen 3F8h/2F8h oder 3E8h/2E8h arbei-
ten.
Dies kann völlig normal sein, da weder der Programmierer noch der
Hardware-Entwickler sein Produkt für andere IRQs oder I/O-Adressen vor-
gesehen hat.
In der Systemsteuerung können Sie kontrollieren, welche IRQs bzw. I/O-Adressen
die Schnittstellen benutzen.
• Die LPT- und COM-Bezeichnungen werden von DOS/Windows automatisch ver-
geben, je nachdem, wieviele Schnittstellen im Computer vorhanden sind.
• Beachten Sie, dass das BIOS Ihres PCs die Schnittstellen der PCI-Karte bei der
Startmeldung (kurz nach dem Einschalten) normalerweise nicht anzeigt!

Prescribed Use
The product is made for installation into a PCI-slot of a PC-compatible computer and
provides two additional RS232-ports and one parallel port.

Configuration
Installation
If you have no expertise for the installation have it done by an
EXPERT or at a specialist's workshop!
The improper installation damages the insert card as well as
your computer and all connected devices.
Attention, mortal danger!
Switch off the computer in which the product is to be installed
and all connected devices and separate all devices from the
mains voltage, pull the mains plug out of the socket!
Switching them off at the On/Off-switch is not sufficient!
• Unscrew the casing of your computer and remove the covering of the casing
carefully.
• Remove one slot metal sheet and insert the PCI-card in a free PCI-insert, screw
it down. Check if the insert card is positioned correctly in the insert.
• If you want to use the RS232-interfaces remove one more slot metal sheet and
screw down the slot metal sheet with the two 9pole plugs/ribbon cable instead.
You also may screw down the two 9pole subD-plugs without the slot metal sheet
in an appropriate cutting of your PC-casing.
Then plug the two ribbon cables correctly on the pin strip (pin 1 of the ribbon cable
has a coloured marking, pin 1 of the pin strip see figure above).
• Screw down the casing of your computer.
• Reconnect your computer and your monitor to the mains voltage and switch on
all devices.
• If your computer does not start correctly switch it off immediately and check all

settings and cable connections. Before opening the PC once more separate it

from the mains voltage, see above!
a) Windows 98/98SE
After starting Windows 98 the hardware recognition will find the interface card. Click
on "Continue". Select "Searching for the best driver for the device (recommended)"
and then on "Continue". Click here on "State a position", click on "Search through".
Select the CDROM-running carriage with the driver-CD, then select the dictionary
"NetMOS" in there the dictionary "NM9835M" and then the dictionary "win98".
Click on "Ok" and then on "Continue".
Windows 98 will now find the driver. Follow all further instructions.
After that a restart is necessary!
b) Windows ME
After Windows has found the device via the hardware recognition click on "State the
position of the driver (extended)", click on "Continue".
Remove the small tick at "Exchangeable media (diskettes, CD-ROM,...)"! Click on
"State a position" and then on "Search through".
Select the CDROM-running carriage with the driver-CD, select then the dictionary
"NetMOS", in there the dictionary "NM9835M" and then the dictionary "winme".
Click on "Ok" and then on "Continue".
Follow all further instructions.
After that a restart is necessary!
c) Windows XP
The required driver is to be found in the dictionary "NetMOS\NM9835M\winxp".
Follow all instructions of Windows XP. When installing the driver Windows XP indi-
cates that the drivers are not certified by Microsoft. You have to accept this indica-
tion in order to continue with the installation of the driver.
Tips & Notes
• Only suitable devices must be connected to the interfaces, that means devices
which can be connected to a serial/parallel interface.
• Plug devices or cables onto the interfaces of the insert card only when your com-
puter as well as all other devices are switched off.
This applies also for disconnecting devices or cables.
• IRQs on the PCI-bus can normally be used by several devices at the same time.
However, there are many insert cards that will not work properly any longer (e.g.
TV-cards) in such a case. If that is the case you may assign the IRQs to the indi-
vidual PCI-slots in the BIOS/Setup, see operating manual of your motherboard.
• Some parallel port devices do not function on other IRQs than 7 or 5 or on other
I/O-addresses than 3F8h/2F8h or 3E8h/2E8h. This might be completely normal
as neither the programmer nor the hardware developer planned further IRQs or
I/O-addresses.
In the control panel you may check which IRQs or I/O-addresses
are used by the interfaces.
• The LPT- and COM-names are assigned automatically by DOS/Windows accord-
ing to how many interfaces are available in the computer.
• Please note that the BIOS of your PC does normally not display the interfaces of
the PCI-card at the start indication (shortly after having switched on the com-
puter)!
