2. INTENDED uSE

- Measuring and displaying electric parameters in the range of measurement category CAT
III up to 600 v against earth potential, pursuant to EN 61010-1 and all lower measuring
categories. The meter must not be used in the measuring category CAT Iv.
- Measurement of direct and alternating current up to 80 A (TrueRMS at AC)
- Measurement of direct and alternating voltage up to 600 v (TrueRMS at AC)
- Temperature measurement from –20 to +760 °C
- Measurement of resistances up to 50 MΩ
- Frequency measurement from 10 Hz to 100 kHz
- Continuity test (<50 Ω acoustic)
- Diode test
- Capacity measurement up to 5 mF
The measurement functions are selected using the dial switch. The measuring range is
selected automatically for all measuring functions (except for temperature, diode and continuity
tests).
The vC-540 shows actual effective measured values (True RMS) in the AC voltage and AC
current measuring ranges.
Polarity is automatically indicated with the prefix (-) if the measured values are negative.
The current measurement takes place contact-free via the unfoldable current probe. The circuit
does not need to be interrupted for measurement. The current probe is also intended and
approved for measurement on uninsulated, actively dangerous conductors. The voltage in the
current measuring circuit must not exceed 600 v in CAT III. Use of personal protection equip-
ment is recommended for measurements in CAT III environments. The meter must not be used
in the measuring category CAT Iv.
The multimeter is operated with a conventional 9 v block battery (type 6F22 or same build).
The device must only be operated with the specified battery type. A rechargeable battery
should not be used due to the lower capacity.
Automatic deactivation switches off the device after approx. 30 minute when no button has
been pushed on the device. This prevents premature discharging of the battery. This function
cannot be deactivated.
