In schools, training centers, hobby and self-help workshops, the operation of mea-
suring devices must be responsibly supervised by trained personnel.
It must be ensured that all replacement fuses are of the specified type and nominal
current rating. The use of repaired fuses or shunting the fuse holder is not permitted.
Replacing the mains fuse requires a small cross-head screwdriver. Carefully lift the
cap from the mains voltage regulator in the cooling device and pull it out. Remove
the defective fuse, replacing it with a fuse of the same type and nominal current
rating.
Do not reoperate the device until you have closed the housing and reattached the
screws.
If there are reasons for supposing that risk-free operation is no longer possible, the
unit must be disabled and safetied against accidental operation. Risk-free operation
can no longer be supposed, when the equipment
is visibly damaged
no longer functions
has been stored long-term under adverse conditions
has been exposed to strong vibrations during transport.
Operating mains devices also requires the following:
When operating network devices, you are obliged to refrain from wearing jewelry
made of metallic materials which conduct electricity, such as chains, bracelets,
rings, etc.
The application of network devices to humans or animals is not permitted.
Connecting the outputs of one or more network devices in series produces potenti-
ally lethal voltages (> 35 VDC).
Never obstruct the ventilation slits and openings of mains devices! Devices are to be
set up on highly inflammable mats which allow free circulation of air to the device.
Cooling of the devices is mainly by convection.
Network devices and consumer devices connected thereto must not be left to ope-
rate unsupervised. Steps must be taken to protect and safety connected consumer
devices from effects due to the network devices (e.g. overvoltage, failure of the net-
work device), as well as effects and hazards originating from the consumer device
itself (e.g. inadmissibly high current consumption).
When malfunctioning, network devices can produce voltages in excess of 50 VDC.
This is hazardous, even if the nominal output voltage of the devices is lower.
When working with voltages, only specially approved tools may be used.

Connecting cables at mains device outputs may not be extended. The only connec-
tors which may be connected are those supplied with the mains device.
Do not run cables if any sections of the metal core are exposed, and never use unin-
sulated contacts. Use appropriate, inflammable insulating material, or take other
appropriate measures, to cover any such locations so that they are protected from
direct contact. Appropriate measures must also be taken to protect components of
the consumer devices connected which conduct electricity from direct contact.
