(channel A or B or C). For more accurate reading, you should always select the lar-
gest possible gate time (for maximum resolution, i.e. number of digits).
a) Inputs A and B (5 Hz to 100 MHz)
To measure signal frequencies, do as follows:
• Connect the specified signal lines to the measurement circuit (generator, oscil-
lator, etc.)
• Set the function switch to channel A or channel B or A/B or A=>B or A - B or A
+ B.
• Via gate time, set signal resolution (number of digits).
• Signal frequency is displayed.
• Pressing the hold button freezes the current measurement and the measure-
ment value displayed until the hold function is deactivated.
• As required, press the attenuator switch to 1:10 of the channel A or B you have
switched to (attenuation/damping) for signal matching at high amplitudes.
b) Input C (100 MHz to 1.6 GHz = 1600 MHz) for model MXC-1600 (or C1 for model
MXC-2800)
Important!
Max. input voltage over the entire frequency range of C is 3 Vpp (=
approx. 1 V rms). Never exceed max. input, thus avoiding damage
to your measuring device. The special functions for channels A
and B cannot be called up for channel C.
To measure signal frequencies at C (C1), do as follows:
• Connect the specified signal lines to the measurement circuit (generator, oscil-
lator, etc.)
• Set the function switch to channel C.
• Via gate time, set signal resolution (number of digits).
• Signal frequency is displayed.
• Pressing the hold button freezes the current measurement and the measure-
ment value displayed until the hold function is deactivated.

c) Input C2 for model MXC-2800 only (1300 MHz to 2800 MHz)
Important!
Max. input voltage over the entire frequency range of C is 3 Vpp
(= approx. 1 V rms). Never exceed max. input, thus avoiding dama-
ge to your measuring device. The special functions for channels A
and B cannot be called up for channel C.
To measure signal frequencies at C2, do as follows:
• Connect the specified signal lines to the measurement circuit (generator, oscil-
lator, etc.)
• Set the function switch to channel C.
• Via gate time, set signal resolution (number of digits).
• Signal frequency is displayed.
• Pressing the hold button freezes the current measurement and the measure-
ment value displayed until the hold function is deactivated.
B 2 Measurement of the period duration of a measurement signal
The period of a square pulse or any other kind of shape of curve is the time needed
for one complete cycle (= 1 sine-wave oscillation = 2 half waves = 360°). To measure
the cycle of a measurement signal, do as follows:
• Connect the specified signal lines to the counter input and measurement circuit
(generator, oscillator, etc.)
• Set the function switch to channel PERI and select the channel to match the
frequency present.
• Via gate time, set signal resolution (number of digits).
• The period is now displayed according to frequency in ns (nanoseconds = 10 to
the power of -9) or us (microseconds = 10 to the power of -6) or ms (millise-
conds = 10 to the power of -3) or s (seconds). The measurement/time unit app-
lying is shown right of the numerical value.
