Introduction

Dear Customer,
Thank you for purchasing the Universal Counter, model MXC - 1600 or model MXC -
2800. You have acquired a measuring device manufactured to state-of-the-art tech-
nological standards. These two measuring devices are frequency counters covering
measurement ranges up to 1600 MHz or 1.6 GHz (MXC-1600) and 2800 MHz or 2.8
GHz (MXC-2800). The devices include three (in the case of model MXC-2800, four)
inputs, two of which, inputs A and B can measure up to 100 MHz at 1 Mohm. Inputs
C (C1) or C2 (model MXC-2800) allow measurements up to 1.6 GHz/2.8 GHz at 50
ohms. Each of the two counters also includes two fixed voltage supply units (stabili-
zed) of 15 V / 1 A and 5 V / 1 A respectively. Outputs are mounted on the back panels
of both devices.
The special features of both frequency counter models are their special functions:
Difference measurement A - B (i.e. A minus B = mathematical difference)
Addition measurement A + B (i.e. A plus B = mathematical sum of both channels)
Ratio measurement A/B (i.e. A divided by B = mathematical division)
Interval measurement A => B = time difference between the frequencies of
channels A and B
Total pulse counter for channel A or channel B up to 99.999.999 pulses.
Frequency is displayed via an 8-digit green LED.
These products are designed according to VDE 0411 = EN 61010. Both device
models, MXC-1600 and MXC-2800, have also been EMV-tested and thus meet
the requirement of current European and national guidelines. Conformity has
been demonstrated and the relevant declarations and documentation are on
file at the manufacturers.

Regulation use of the device:

Measurement and display of frequencies ranging from 1 Hz min. to 1600 MHz
max. for model MXC-1600, and 1 Hz min. to 2800 MHz max. for model MXC-
2800. The max. input of 3 Vpp (peak-to-peak) may on no account be exceeded.
Output of a stabilized DC voltage of 15 VDC, load capability 1 A max.
Output of a stabilized DC voltage of 5 VDC, load capability 1 A max..
Measurement under adverse environmental conditions is not permitted.
Adverse environmental conditions are:
- damp or excessive humidity,
- dust and combustible gases, vapors or solvents,
- during storms or stormy weather conditions, such as strong electrostatic fields,
etc.
Use of the device other than previously described will result in damage to the devi-
ce, and also implies risks, such as short circuits, fire or electric shocks, etc. No part
of the product must be changed or modified in any way! Please observe the Notes
on Safety!
