transformer to a standard wall socket connected to the public supply.
• The weather station and the wall plug transformer are intended to be used in dry, enclosed indoor
locations only. The wall plug transformer must not get damp or wet! There is a risk of a lethal electric
shock!
• The outdoor sensor is suitable for for use in sheltered outdoor areas (e.g. under a roof overhand).
Never dip the outdoor sensor in or under water; this may destroy it!
• When the product is taken from a cold to a warm room (e.g., during transport), condensation may be
produced. This could damage the product. The wall plug transformer also poses a risk for a poten-
tially fatal electric shock!
Wait until the product has reached room temperature before using it. This may take several hours.

General information on batteries/rechargeable batteries
• Batteries/rechargeable batteries must be kept out of the reach of children.
• Do not leave batteries/rechargeable batteries lying around; they could be swallowed by children or pets. If swal-
lowed, consult a doctor immediately.
• Leaking, or damaged batteries/rechargeable batteries, in contact with the skin can cause acid burns, therefore, use
suitable protective gloves.
• Batteries/rechargeable batteries must not be short-circuited, opened or thrown into a fi re. There is a risk of explosion!
• Do not recharge normal, non-rechargeable batteries, risk of explosion! Only charge rechargeable batteries that are
intended for this purpose; use a suitable battery charger.
• Never mix standard batteries with rechargeable batteries, use either standard batteries or rechargeable batteries.
• Do not mix batteries/rechargeable batteries with different charges (e. g. full and half-full batteries/rechargeable batteries).
• Always replace the complete set of batteries/rechargeable batteries.
• Check that the polarity is correct, when inserting the batteries/rechargeable batteries (pay attention to plus/+ and
minus/-).
• If you wish to use rechargeable batteries please note that, due to the lower output voltage (batteries = 1.5 V,
rechargeable batteries =1.2 V), the operating time will decrease.
When using rechargeable batteries in the outside sensor, keep in mind that rechargeable batteries are more
temperature-sensitive than normal batteries (winter operation).
Therefore, we recommend that you use high-quality alkaline batteries to ensure long-lasting and reliable
operation.
Getting Started
• Connect the round plug of the enclosed wall plug transformer to the corresponding socket on the weather station
(on the short connection cable, labelled "Sensor").
• Plug the wall plug transformer into a mains socket.
• In the display, all display segments and all LEDs light up briefl y. The weather station then starts searching for
available outdoor sensors; the reception symbol blinks in the upper right of the display.
• Open the battery compartment on the bottom of the outdoor sensor, by pressing the two clips together and then
removing the battery compartment cover.
• Insert two "Micro/AAA" batteries with the correct polarity (observe +/Plus and -/Minus). You will fi nd an appropriate
diagram in the battery compartment.
• Close the battery compartment again, so the cover snaps into place.
• The LED on the front of the outdoor sensor now begins to blink.

If you do not press the "CH" button, channel 1 (CH1) is automatically selected (e.g. if you use only one outdoor
Version 10/11
sensor).
If multiple outdoor sensors are used, each one must be set to a different channel.
To set the channels again, after these 10 seconds, remove the batteries briefl y and then replace them.
The outdoor sensor can be reset by either pressing the "Reset" button or by briefl y opening the battery compart-
ment cover; the contact with the batteries is thereby broken.
• After 2 minutes, the search for available outdoor sensors ends and the weather station begins analysing the DCF
signal.
The DCF receiver is built into the outdoor sensor, in order to ensure the best possible reception.
The DCF signal is a signal being broadcast from a transmitter in
Mainfl ingen (near Frankfurt am Main). Its range is up to 1500 km
and, under ideal reception conditions, even up to 2000 km.
Inter alia the DCF signal contains the exact time of day (accuracy is
theoretically 1 second in 1 million years!) and the date.
This means there is no complicated manual setting needed for
summer and winter time.
The recognition and interpretation of the DCF signal can take 3-5
minutes. Do not move the weather station and the outdoor sensor
during this time. Do not use any buttons.
Do not place the weather station or the outdoor sensor next to
electronic devices, metal parts, cables and so on. Poor reception
is also to be expected with metallised insulating glass windows, reinforced concrete constructions, coated special
wallpaper or in basements.
The weather station synchronises with the data from the DCF receiver in the outdoor sensor daily at 03:00, 04:00,
05:00 and 06:00 a.m. as well as during start-up.
After a few minutes, the analysis of the DCF signal fi nishes. If the current time and the symbol "
display, the DCF receiver in the outdoor sensor has detected the DCF signal without problems and transmitted it
to the weather station.
• The battery compartment is located on the bottom of the weather station. Insert four AA/Mignon batteries with cor-
rect polarity (observe plus/+ and minus/-, see illustration in battery compartment). Close the battery compartment.
Installation/Setup
• The weather station is only to be placed and used in dry, enclosed indoor rooms. Place it on a fl at, stable,
suffi ciently large surface. Protect valuable furniture surfaces by using an appropriate underlay, otherwise it may
cause scratches.
Place the cable to the wall plug transformer so nobody can trip over it.
• The outdoor sensor is intended for installation in a protected outdoor area; hang it on a screw or nail.
You should protect the outside sensor from direct precipitation; otherwise the air temperature cannot be measured.
Never use the outside sensor in or under water; this will damage it!
Replacing the Battery
The battery in the outdoor sensor needs replacing if the battery symbol appears in the lower right of the weather sta-
tion display or if only dashes are shown for the temperature value. Afterward, if necessary, start a sensor search from
the weather station the signal for the outdoor sensor (see chapter "Starting a manual search for outdoor sensors").
If the weather station's batteries are fl at, a battery symbol appears in the lower left of the display. The symbol also
appears if there are no batteries inserted.
Manually setting time/date, selecting 12/24-hr mode and display language,
switching DCF reception on/off
• Press and hold the button "
• Choose between the 12-hr and the 24-hr mode using the buttons "
• Briefl y press the "

- Switching the DCF reception on/off ("ON" or "OFF")
• The setup mode closes if you do not press any buttons for 10 seconds (or if you briefl y press the "
button again after the function for switching DCF reception on/off, so the time is displayed again).
Within 10 seconds after inserting the batteries, you can switch between the transmission channels 1, 2
or 3 with the "CH" button. The LED on the sensor blinks accordingly once, twice, or three times.
The "°C/°F" button does not function on this version of the outdoor sensor!
The indicator in the weather station's display is switched using the button "°C/°F" on the back of the
weather station.
If there still is no current time shown in the weather station's display after 5 minutes, change the installa-
tion location for the outdoor sensor. Briefl y remove the batteries from the outdoor sensor; briefl y unplug
the weather station from the mains voltage. Then proceed as described above.
You can also wait for a day, allowing the outdoor sensor to attempt to detect the DCF signal during the
night, since the DCF signal reception is better then.
Alternatively, the time and date can be set manually on the weather station.
Long-term use of the weather station's LED lighting (e.g. display illumination) is not possible with batter-
ies, because it shortens the battery life. Always use the enclosed wall plug transformer for this purpose.
The batteries are only used as a backup in the case of a power cut.
If you do not wish to use the LED lighting for a while, the weather station can also be used without the
wall plug transformer.
