8. Balance

The accumulator internal resistance measuring
device "RIM 1000" is already balanced ex works.
Any renewed balancing is therefore normally NOT
necessary!
To balance the "RIM 1000" no settings are necessary within the
device. The basis prerequisite for balancing is an existing, good
laboratory mains device with a settable voltage of 2V to 25V and
a 3A current limit.
If you wish to carry out a balance, proceed as follows:
• To activate the balancing mode of the "RIM 1000", hold down
the two keys "U-Anzeige" and "-" and switch on the measuring
device.
• "0.0cal" will appear in the display
• With the probe tips open, press the "+" key briefly. "2.0cal" will
appear in the LC display
• Create a voltage on the probe tips of exactly 2V= (make sure
the contact is good, cheap alligator clips are not suitable!).
• Press the "+" key. "12.0cal" is displayed in the LC display.
• Increase the voltage on the probe tips to exactly 12V=.
• Press the "+" key. "25.0cal" is displayed in the LC display.
• Increase the voltage on the probe tips to exactly 25V= and set
the current limit of the laboratory mains device to exactly 3A.
• Press the "+" key.
• The balancing process is terminated.
• Switch off the measuring device "RIM 1000", wait a few
seconds and then switch it on again. This device is now ready
for operation.
