c) The measuring process:

The load of the accumulator takes place with the "RIM 1000" with
short current impulses as continuous load would bring about too
great a loss of power in the measuring device.
During the voltage display under load, a discharge impulse
appears in addition on the LC display.
The volume of the discharge impulse set with the "RIM 1000" so
that the voltage dies not break down completely with an accumu-
lator with low-load capability.
The discharge current should be as high as possible to
obtain reasonable information about the accumulator.
The value of the discharge current itself does not have
to be exact here (it dos not matter whether it is a current
of 8A or 8.05 A or 8.2 A).
Depending on the accumulator, you can set the discharge cur-
rent by pressing the key "I-Anzeige". The momentarily set value
flashes. With the two keys "+" and "-", the value can be set in the
5% grid (100 %corresponds to a current impulse of approx. 10 A).
The actual current value is measured and is included
in the calculation.
Proceed as follows for measuring.
• The measuring point should be cleaned before measuring.
Even little contamination can lead to an incorrect measure-
ment. The surface of the pole caps could be treated, for
example, with very fine sandpaper (400.grain or more).
• Switch on the measuring device and press the key "Ein" for
about 2-3 seconds. The measuring mode is started.
• Select the desired display with one of the three keys "Ri-
Anzeige", "U-Anzeige" and "I-Anzeige".
• Press the probe tips firmly (up to the stop) on to the pole caps
of the accumulator to be checked.
Pay attention to correct polarity as otherwise, the
measuring device will be destroyed.
