3. With the circuit power turned off, open the circuit at the point
where its current is to be measured. Connect the instrument in
series with the circuit, observing proper polarities when making
connection.
4. Turn on power to the circuit being measured. If the pointer is
deflected to the left of zero, the polarity is opposite to that
which was anticipated.
4.5. Measuring the 10 A-Range AC + DC
1. Connect the black test lead in the COM jack and the red test
lead in the 10 A jack.
2. Set the range switch at appropriate 10 A-range of AC or DC.
3. With the circuit power turned off, open the circuit at the point
where current is to be measured. Connect the instrument in
series with the circuit, observing proper polarities when making
connection.
4. Turn on power to the circuit being measured. If the pointer is
deflected to the left of zero, the polarity is opposite to that
anticipated. Turn power off and reverse the leads.
5. Read the current directly on the scale marked at 10 A-range
(DC or AC).
5. Maintenance
5.1. Installing the battery
Your meter requires a 9 V battery for power. The battery symbol
appears when the battery voltage drops to certain limits. For correct
operation, replace the battery as soon as possible. Continued use
with a low battery will lead to errors in readings.
