Thermal motor protection
The thermal motor protection circuit monitors current consumption and motor tem-
perature. This prevents the machine from overheating.
If the motor is overloaded while working, the machine will stop, and will only restart
when pressure on the grinding or cutting disc is reduced.
The permitted overload is not a certain specified value, but depends on motor tem-
perature.
If the machine is overloaded, relieve the pressure on the disc and allow the machine
to run for approx. 30 sec. under no load.
Changing discs
Always disconnect the mains plug from the mains supply before working on the
machine!
Grinding discs/cutting discs
Lock the spindle by pressing the spindle lockbutton (4). The spindle lockbutton (4)
should only be pressed once spindle rotation has stopped. Release the clamping nut
(10) using the pin wrench. Clean the grinding disc, clamping flange (8) and clamp-
ing nut (10).
Permitted disc types
Use only cutting and grinding discs which are approved for a speed of at least 11,000
r.p.m. Use only synthetic resin-bonded, fibre-reinforced grinding or cutting discs or
diamond cutting discs which are approved for a peripheral speed of 80 m/sec.

Always observe the permitted max. peripheral speed/r.p.m. printed on the disc
label.
Working with the tool
Clamp the workpiece securely if its own weight is not sufficient to keep it steady. The
pressure applied to the tool should not be so great that it causes the disc to come to
a standstill. Apply even pressure and advance the tool evenly.
Cutting
■ Use Hilti DC-D diamond cutting discs for cutting concrete and hard stone.
■ Do not tilt the angle grinder out of the cutting axis while cutting.
■ The cutting edge of the cutting disc must be in good condition.
■ Materials containing asbestos must not be cut.
■ As a safety precaution to prevent tilting while cutting, a guide carriage (with dust
extraction hood) must be used when cutting stone.
■ Always wear a respiratory protection mask when working.
