Installation

Installation Site
When selecting the installation site, ensure that:
- the FM Sensor is not covered by rigid or movable objects
- a minimum distance of 2 m is always allowed between
the sensor and luminaires, in order to prevent maloperation
- the sensor is installed lateral to walking direction in
order to achieve optimum operation.
Installation
In order to facilitate handling during the adjusting phase of
the FM Sensor, an adaptor is provided, which is clipped on
between the black socket on the FM insert and the plugs
on the back of the sensor element, is included with the FM
Sensor. The adaptor can be clipped on or removed
while the power is on.
Prior to installation, set the response threshold and the
overtravel time on the back of the FM Sensor- only in
the case of Types 6800-xxx-102(M)/103M/104(M) - (see
chapter "Manual Adjustment Facilities").

These FM Sensors are preset ex Works to the following
values (rotary setting device on the back of the sensor):

- Response threshold/Test

Response Threshold/Test (see Fig. 6)
The integrated dusk sensor controls the response thresh-
old (photo-sensitivity) at which detection is activated. The
individual settings are:
- "Moon" symbol: activation only after dark
- "Sun" symbol: activation at any degree of brightness
- Setting between above symbols:
• Choose a setting by testing until the desired response
threshold is reached.
- "Test": activation at any degree of brightness, because
the dusk sensor is deactivated (with the shortest switch-
off delay of approx. 2 seconds).
• Test by walking around in the detection zone to deter-
mine where the FM Sensor is activated.

NOTE
- So that your unit can function optimally, after installation,
the terminal screws of the respective FM insert must
be in the correct position (see Table on Page 75).
- To prevent unauthorized re-adjustment (e.g., when used
in hotels and administrative buildings), the slide switch
(Fig. 2, Item 3) can be secured in the centre position by
means of the screw provided at the back of the unit.
After adjustment has been completed, remove the adaptor.
Clip the FM Sensor (Fig. 2, Item 2) and the cover frame
(Item 4) onto the FM insert selected (Item 1) in such a way
that the plug-in connection on the back is not askew, and
snap into place.
Removal
To remove the FM Sensor, always lift it out of the FM insert
with the frame.

• Remain standing until the consumers are switched off.
Then check your settings by "walking around".
NOTES
Test
When the test position is vacated, the device switches off,
or into the set mode of operation, after a self-test of 1 minute.

A strong infrared signal can cause slight deviations or
switch-off delays.
Any new movement in the detection zone during the
switch-off delay reactivates the time again.

Start-up

After the supply voltage has been connected for the first
time, or after supply has been interrupted, irrespective of
the degree of ambient brightness, connected consumers
are switched on:
in the case of FM Sensors 6810-21x-101,
- for approx. 80 seconds and,
in the case of FM Sensors 6800-xxx-102M/103M/104(M),
- for the time set on the FM Sensor (at least 1 minute with
time settings of < 1 minute, with the exception of the
short-time impulse
NOTE
After this time has elapsed, detection is resumed, how-
ever, only after the integrated dusk switch has been
enabled
When the supply voltage is connected, or supply is
interrupted, the FM devices react as described under "NC
pushbutton" extension (see large Table at the beginning of
the Operating Instructions).
