Mode of Operation
For Types 6800-xxx-102M/103 M/104(M), you can
• freely select the overtravel time setting (2 sec. to 32 min.)
• choose an automatic or manual mode of operation (slide
switch, Fig. 2, Item 3).
These possibilities are described in more detail in the
chapter "Manual Adjustment Facilities".
The FM Sensors 180 can be only be combined with the
following Busch-Jaeger devices (see Fig. 1):
- MOS FET Insert 6804 U (for incandescent lamps and
electronic transformers up to 420 VA)
- Universal Dimmer 6590 U-10x (for incandescent lamps,
low-voltage halogen lamps with electronic or conven-
tional transformers up to 420 VA)
- Universal Relay Insert 6401 U-10x (for any loads up to
2300 W/VA)
- Relay Insert 6812 U-101 (for any loads up to 700 W/VA.
Extension operation only via an NC pushbutton)
- Extension Insert 6805 U (combination with the above
FM Inserts, with the exception of 6812 U-101).

Important Information
CAUTION
Work on the 230 V supply system may only be carried
out by authorized electricians.
Please note that the FM sensors are not suitable for use as
burglar alarms, since they are not, as prescribed for this
purpose, secured against sabotage!
Instructions re Disconnection!
Disconnection of the electric circuit for the purpose of
replacing incandescent lamps is only possible by switching
off a line-side main switch or the automatic circuit-breaker.
Documentation
In these Operating Instructions, not only the Standard (Art.
No. 6810-21x-101), but also the Comfort Sensors (Art. No.
6800-xxx-102M/103 M/104(M)), are referred to as "FM
Sensors". Please ensure that the appropriate types are
used as specified in the description.
The type marking is on the back of the device in each
case.

Mode of Operation
The FM Sensor is a passive infrared movement detector
and always reacts to changes in thermal radiation in the
detection zone. Immediately a person or any other source
of heat enters the detection zone, the FM Sensor switches
the connected lighting on.
The lighting remains switched on as long as there is thermal
movement within the detection zone. If this heat source
leaves the detection zone, or remains motionless, the light-
ing is switched off after 80 seconds (Type 6810-21x-101), or
at the end of the overtravel time (6800-xxx-102M/103 M/
104(M)). FM Sensors are dazzle-proof. Even if it is directly
spotlighted, e.g., by torchlight, they still retain their moni-
toring function for over 90 seconds.
Special Features
The FM Sensors have the following special features:
For all types, you can
• select an infinitely variable brightness level at which
