PRIOR TO OPERATION

1. Pow er source
Ensure that the pow er source to be utilized conform s
to the pow er requirem ents specified on the product
nam eplate.
2. Pow er sw itch
Ensure that the pow er sw itch is in the OFF position.
If the plug is connected to a pow er receptacle w hile
the pow er sw itch is in the ON position, the pow er
tool w ill start operating im m ediately, w hich could
cause a serious accident.
3. Extension cord
When the w ork area is rem oved from the pow er
source, use an extension cord of sufficient thickness
and rated capacity. The extension cord should be
kept as short as practicable.
4. How to install tool
NOTE:
For tools such as a bull point and a cold chisel,
use only Hitachi genuine parts.
(1) Clean, then sm ear the tool shank w ith the grease
provided in the green tube (Fig. 1).
(2) To attach the tool (SDS m ax shank), insert it into
the hole until it contacts the innerm ost end of the
hole as illustrated in Fig. 2.
If you continue to turn the tool w ith slight pressure,
you can feel a spot w here there is a hitch. At that
spot, pull the grip to the direction of an arrow m ark
and insert the tool all the w ay until it hits the
innerm ost end.
Releasing the grip reverts the grip and secures the
tool in place.
(3) Pull the tool to m ake sure it is locked com pletely.
(4) To rem ove the tool, fully pull the grip in the direction
of the arrow and pull out the tool.
5. Regulating the number of rotations and hammering
(Fig. 3)
This Rotary Ham m er is equipped w ith a built-in
electronic control circuit that can adjust and regulate
the num ber of rotations and tim es of ham m ering.
This Rotary Ham m er can be used by adjusting the
dial, depending upon the contents of operation,
such as boring holes into fragile m aterials, chipping,
centering, etc.
The scale '1' of the dial is designed for a m inim um
speed w ith the num ber of 240 rotations per m inute
and 1320 tim es of blow per m inute. The scale '6'
is designed for a m axim um speed w ith the num ber
of 480 rotations per m inute and 2650 tim es of blow
per m inute.
CAUTION:
Do not adjust the dial during operation. Doing so
can result in injury because the Rotary Ham m er
m ust be held by only one hand, disabling the steady
control of the Rotary Ham m er.
HOW TO USE THE ROTARY HAM M ER
1. How to drill holes (Fig. 4)
(1) Pull the sw itch trigger after applying the drill bit
tip to the drilling position.
