HOW TO HANDLE A CORE BIT
When a core bit is used, large diam eter holes and blind
holes can be drilled. In this case, use optional
accessories for core bits (such as a center pin and core
bit shank) for m ore efficient operation.
1. M ounting
CAUTION:
Prior to m ounting a core bit, alw ays disconnect the
plug from the pow er supply receptacle.
(1) M ount the core bit on the core bit shank. (Fig. 15)
Before that, feed oil to the screw portion of core
bit shank for easy dism ounting.
(2) M ount the core bit shank on the m ain body in the
sam e m anner as in m ounting the drill bit and the
bull point. (Fig. 16)
(3) Insert the center pin into the guide plate until it
reaches the extrem ity.
(4) Fit in the guide plate by aligning its concaved
portion w ith the core bit tip. When the position of
the concave is shifted by turning the guide plate
right or left, the guide plate never slips off even
w hen the drill is used in a dow nw ard direction.
(Fig. 17)
2. Drilling holes
(1) Insert the plug into a receptacle.
(2) A spring is built in the center pin. By straightly and
gently pressing it to the w all or floor surface, the
entire surface of the core bit tip attains contact to
start the hole drilling job. (Fig. 18)
(3) When the hole depth reaches approxim ately 5 m m ,
the hole position can be determ ined. Then rem ove
the center pin and guide plate from the core bit
and continue the hole drilling job.
CAUTION:
When rem oving the center pin and guide plate,
alw ays disconnect the plug from the receptacle.
3. How to dismount the core bit
By holding the rotary ham m er (w ith the core bit
inserted) in an upw ard position, drive the rotary
ham m er to repeat im pact operation tw o or three
tim es, w hereby the screw is loosened and the rotary
ham m er becom es ready for disassem bly. (Fig. 19)
Rem ove the core bit shank from the rotary ham m er,
hold the core bit w ith one hand, and strongly strike
the head of the SDS m ax shank portion of the core
bit shank w ith a m anual ham m er tw o or three
tim es, w hereby the round head screw is loosened
and the rotary ham m er is ready for disassem bly.

M AINTENANCE AND INSPECTION
1. Inspecting the tool
Since use of a dull tool w ill degrade efficiency and
cause possible m otor m alfunction, sharpen or
replace the tool as soon as abrasion is noted.
2. Inspecting the mounting screw s
Regularly inspect all m ounting screw s and ensure
that they are properly tightened. Should any of the
screw s be loose, retighten them im m ediately. Failure
to do so could result in serious hazard.
3. M aintenance of the motor
The m otor unit w inding is the very " heart" of the
pow er tool. Exercise due care to ensure the w inding
does not becom e dam aged and/or w et w ith oil or
w ater.
4. Inspecting the carbon brushes (Fig. 22)
The M otor em ploys carbon brushes w hich are
consum able parts. When they becom e w orn to or
near the " w ear lim it" , it could result in m otor trouble.
When an auto-stop carbon brush is equipped, the
m otor w ill stop autom atically. At that tim e, replace
both carbon brushes w ith new ones w hich have the
sam e carbon brush Num bers show n in the figure.
In addition, alw ays keep carbon brushes clean and
ensure that they slide freely w ithin the brush holders.
5. Replacing carbon brushes
Loosen the tw o set screw s and rem ove the tail
cover. Rem ove the brush caps and carbon brushes.
After replacing the carbon brushes, tighten the brush
caps securely and install the tail cover w ith securely
tightening tw o set screw s.
