(4) To rem ove the drill bit (taper shank), insert the
cotter into the slot of the taper shank adapter and
strike the head of the cotter w ith a ham m er
supporting on the rest. (Fig. 15)
8. Sw itching betw een the "SAVE" and the "POWER"
modes
The ham m ering force of the ham m er can be
increased or decreased to conform w ith intended
usage, by operating the shift knob as per Fig. 16.
Adjust the force to m atch the usage intended.
(1) " SAVE" m ode ... decreased ham m ering force
This can prevent thin drill bits w hich are less than
5 m m in diam eter, from being bent or broken.
(2) " POWER" m ode ... increased ham m ering force
This can be used to speedily and efficiently drill
holes w hen the drill bits w hich are being used are
greater than 5 m m in diam eter.
This can be used to drill holes into w ood or m etal.
CAUTION:
Do not drill holes in w ood w ith the " SAVE" m ode.
There is a likelihood that the m otor w ill burn out
because it can easily lock up due to the low pow er.
LUBRICATION
Low viscosity grease is applied to this rotary ham m er so
that it can be used for a long period w ithout replacing the
grease. Please contact the nearest service center for
grease replacem ent w hen any grease is leaking form
loosened screw .
Further use of the rotary ham m er despite the grease
shortage causes dam age to reduce the service life.
CAUTION:
A specific grease (FG-6A) is used w ith this m achine,
therefore, the norm al perform ance of the m achine m ay
be badly affected by use of different grease. Please be
sure to let one of our service centers to undertake
replacem ent of the grease.
M AINTENANCE AND INSPECTION
1. Inspecting the tool
Since use of a dull tool w ill degrade efficiency and
cause possible m otor m alfunction, sharpen or
replace the tool as soon as abrasion is noted.
2. Inspecting the mounting screw s
Regularly inspect all m ounting screw s and ensure
that they are properly tightened. Should any of the
screw s be loose, retighten them im m ediately. Failure
to do so could result in serious hazard.
3. M aintenance of the motor
The m otor unit w inding is the very " heart" of the
pow er tool. Exercise due care to ensure the w inding
does not becom e dam aged and/or w et w ith oil or
w ater.
4. Cleaning on the outside
When the pow er tool is stained, w ipe w ith a soft
dry cloth or a cloth m oistened w ith soapy w ater.
Do not use chloric solvents, gasoline or paint thinner,
as they m elt plastics.
5. Storage
Store the pow er tool in a place in w hich the
tem perature is less than 40° C and out of reach of
children.
6. Service parts list
CAUTION:
Repair, m odification and inspection of Hitachi Pow er
Tools m ust be carried out by a Hitachi Authorized
Service Center.
This Parts List w ill be helpful if presented w ith the
tool to the Hitachi Authorized Service Center w hen
requesting repair or other m aintenance.
In the operation and m aintenance of pow er tools,
the safety regulations and standards prescribed in
each country m ust be observed.
M ODIFICATIONS:
Hitachi Pow er Tools are constantly being im proved
and m odified to incorporate the latest technological
advancem ents.
Accordingly, som e parts m ay be changed w ithout
prior notice.
GUARANTEE
We guarantee Hitachi Pow er Tools in accordance w ith
statutory/country specific regulation. This guarantee does
not cover defects or dam age due to m isuse, abuse, or
norm al w ear and tear. In case of com plaint, please send
the Pow er Tool, undism antled, w ith the GUARANTEE
CERTIFICATE found at the end of this Handling instruction,
to a Hitachi Authorized Service Center.

change w ithout prior notice.
