4. Operation

4.1 Preparation

Assembling the guide bar:

a.
First screw the guide bar onto the body of the machine by using the 4 mounting nuts and then tighten them firmly with
a 13 mm spanner.
b.
Then establish the electrical connection between the guide bar and the machine body.
c.
Actuate the lower right-hand lever on the guide bar to unlock it and then swing it forwards until the guide bar stands
vertically and engages in place.
4.2 Inserting and exchanging tools on the machine
a.
Remove the mains plug.
b.
Tilt the machine backwards and place the guide bar on the floor
c.
Insert the tool into the carrier plate by using a slight counter-clockwise rotation.
d.
To remove the tool turn it abruptly clockwise and remove it from the carrier plate.
4.3 Commissioning
a.
Establish the mains connection.
WHEN SWITCHING ON AND USING THE MACHINE HOLD IT FIRMLY AND SECURELY IN BOTH
HANDS; DO NOT CLENCH TOO TIGHTLY!
b.
Tilt the guide bar to the desired working position by actuating the lower right-hand lever and engage it in place, then
release the lever.
c.
Press the button on the rear of the switch housing and actuate the switch lever (protection against accidental activati-
on).
d. Release the button; the machine is now switched on.
Releasing the switch lever turns off the machine. To switch it on it is sufficient to actuate just one of the
two switch levers.

4.4 Method of operation

a.
The ESM 1500 is a self-propelling machine, i.e. it is guided to the left or to the right by slightly raising or lowering the
guide bar.
Left direction of travel: Lower the guide bar slightly - Right direction of travel: Raise the guide bar slightly.
IN ORDER TO PREVENT THE MACHINE RUNNING OVER THE CABLE WHEN WORKING, PLACE THE
CABLE OVER YOUR SHOULDER.
