7.2 Connection and Start-up

Ensure that the mains adapter of the H.264 digital recorder is disconnected and the de-
vice is thus powered down.
Always observe the operating instructions of the devices that are to be used with the
product (e.g. surveillance cameras, screens, etc.).
• Make sure that the H.264 digital recorder is powered down.
• Connect up to 4 surveillance cameras to the video inputs "VIDEO INPUT" (29) (BNC connection).
• Make sure that the cameras are connected to the power supply.
• Connect a screen to the the video output "VIDEO OUTPUT" (30).
• Connect audio sources to the audio outputs "Audio OUTPUT" (28) (e.g. from a surveillance cam-
era with sound monitoring > microphone). Connect the audio outputs to a device with a suitable
audio input.
• If required, connect a network cable to the "network connection" (27) (RJ45).
• Connect the included mouse to the respective "USB connection" (26).
• Connect the included fl ash drive to the respective "USB connection" (25). Observe that only
fl ash drives formatted in FAT32 are supported.
• Connect the low voltage plug of the supplied mains adapter with the "DC IN 12V power connec-
tion" (23). Plug the safety plug of the mains adapter into a normal mains socket with 230 V/AC
50 Hz.
• Connect the respective sensors, alarms or suitable PTZ camera (PTZ = PAN, TILT, ZOOM; a suit-
able PTZ camera is optionally available) to the "connection terminal" (24). Observe the following
connection diagram in fi gure A1.
• Switch on your screen and select the respective display channel.
• Open the battery compartment on the back of the remote control by taking off the cover of the
battery compartment.
• Insert two 1.5 V micro batteries observing the correct polarity (Type AAA).
• Close the battery compartment on the back of the remote control again by re-attaching the
cover of the battery compartment.
• Switch on the H.264 compact digital recorder by setting the "ON/OFF" switch (22) to "I".
