Maintenance and repairs
Chain
Have the wear on your chain checked
at regular intervals by a qualified pro-
fessional workshop, at least every 1000
km. Mercedes-Benz recommends that
you consult an approved Mercedes-Benz
dealer.
Lubricate the chain regularly, at least
every 300 km.
Important!
Do not soak your chain in cleaning
solutions, and do not use chain clea-
ning devices, as these will remove
the lubricants from the chain rollers.
Important!
Be environmentally aware – use only
biodegradable lubricants.

• Lubricate the chain with an appropria-
te chain lubricant. Run the chain back-
wards with a few turns of the crank
and wipe excess lubricant from the
chain with a dry, lint-free cloth.
Wear and replacement
• Regularly check the wear on your
chain. Accurate measuring tools are
available to perform a precise check.
• Because the chain is an endless
construction with no connector link,
chain replacement should only be
carried out by an experienced bicycle
mechanic with the appropriate special
riveting equipment.
• An incorrectly riveted chain may
break and cause a fall or accident.
Please contact a qualified professio-
nal workshop for chain replacement.
Brakes and brake pads
Check the brake cables of your Mercedes-
Benz Bike for damage or other irregulari-
ties at regular intervals.
The thickness of the brake pads should
also be checked regularly and after conti-
nuous hard use.
When the brake pad thickness is
below 0.9 mm, have your brake pads
replaced by a qualified professional
workshop.
Potential accident risk
Worn brake pads cannot provide sufficient
braking performance, and may also lead to
damage to your brake discs.
