Headset bearing
The suspension forks and handlebar stem
rotate on bearings mounted in the frame.
To ensure that the bike can be steered
smoothly, it is necessary that the headset
bearing rotates easily and without play.
Smooth action
• Lift your bike at the front until the
front wheel just leaves the ground.
• Turn the handlebars to the left and to
the right. The handlebars should move
smoothly without any catching.

• Put one hand on the lower headset
bearing (4).
• Activate the front wheel brake (2) and
move the bike backwards and for-
wards.

If there is any noticeable play between
the suspension forks (3) and the frame
(1), the headset bearing (4) must be
adjusted.
This adjustment should only be perfor-
med by a qualified professional work-
shop.
Potential accident risk
Never ride with a loose headset bearing. The
steering tube could break and cause total
loss of control over your bike. This could
lead to a fall or accident in which you and/
or other persons may be injured.
