Detailed operating instructions
Mounting and removing wheels
If you have to remove a tyre to repair a
puncture, or if you are preparing your
Mercedes-Benz Bike for transport, it may
become necessary to remove one or both
of the wheels and remount them later.
Danger – potential burns
Please note, the disc brakes become extre-
mely hot during braking. Let the discs cool
for a while if you intend removing the wheels
shortly after braking.
Removing wheels
• Open the quick-releases as described
on page 51.
• As the forks have a drop-out protec-
tion on the end, it is not yet possible
to remove the front wheel. The wheel
can be removed by unscrewing the
tensioning nut on the end of the quick-
release by 3 or four turns.
• Before you start on removing the rear
wheel, shift the chain on to the smal-
lest rear sprocket. This makes it easier
to remount the rear wheel later.

• Now open the rear quick-releases
and unscrew the tensioning nut by 3
or 4 turns.
• When removing the rear wheel, it may
be necessary to pull the rear derailleur
back to allow the wheel to be removed
more easily from the axle mounts.
Note for Trekking Bike models!
Before removing or attaching the front
wheel, make sure that you first detach
the lighting lead from the hub dynamo.
Take care to reattach the lead with the
correct polarity.
