Safety
Transporting your bike with carrier
systems
When using a roof or rear bike carrier,
the bike must be transported standing
upright on its wheels.
Roof carriers
Make sure that all parts that are loosely
attached (e.g. drinking bottle) are removed
before transporting your bike.
Carrier systems with which bikes are at-
tached by their saddles and handlebars are
not permitted because these parts would
be subjected to unnecessarily high stresses
during transportation – risk of damage!
Make sure that the jaw-fastenings for the
down tube are suitable for aerodynamic
profiles. Be sure to read the instruction for
your roof-carrier carefully and observe the
recommended speed limits. Take note of the
increased overall height of your vehicle and
note this on a conspicuous sticker applied
to the dashboard or steering wheel as a
reminder.
50
Rear-end carrier
Make sure that your bike does not extend
beyond the sides of your vehicle.
Make sure that the number plate, indicators,
rear lights, brake lights and reflectors are
not obscured by the carrier and/or your
bike.
If you have any questions, please contact
your Mercedes-Benz dealer – they can also
provide you with comprehensive information
about Mercedes-Benz carrier systems.

Transport in vehicles

As a rule, this is the safest way to trans-
port your bike.
• Make sure that your bike is securely
fastened inside the vehicle. Use elastic
lashing belts or similar.
• If the bike is transported on its side,
make sure that cables and leads are
not bent too much.
