Brakes
The brakes are an essential safety-relevant
component of your bike.
Malfunctions can lead to serious accidents.
For matters concerning your brakes, please
consult a qualified professional workshop.
Rubbing brakes
If your brake blocks rub against the disc
while riding, please check the following
potential causes:
• The braking system is insufficiently
„run-in".
• Check whether your wheel is seated
correctly in its axle mounting.
• Check whether your wheel quick-re-
leases are secure.
• Check the gap between the brake pads
and the brake discs.
Important!
Permanent rubbing of the brake pads
can lead to overheating and a reduc-
tion of braking efficiency.

Shifting

Your Mercedes-Benz Bike is equipped with
a Shimano chain gear shift system with 27
gears. These are distributed over 3 chain
rings on the crank, and 9 sprockets on the
rear wheel. The various gears are selec-
ted according to the terrain or desired
speed by the shift levers mounted on the
handlebars.
Left shift unit – front derailleur
With the shift mounted on the left hand-
lebar, you can select one of the 3 front
chain rings with the help of the front de-
railleur. The large button shifts the chain
to the next largest ring (higher ratio), the
small shift lever shifts the chain to smaller
rings (lower ratio).

Right shift unit – rear derailleur
With the shift unit mounted on the right
handlebar, you can control the rear
derailleur mounted on the rear dropout.
The large button shifts the chain to the
next largest sprocket (lower ratio), the
small shift lever shifts the chain to smaller
sprockets (higher ratio).
Important!
To avoid damage to the chain, spro-
ckets and derailleur system, only
change gear when the bike and pe-
dals are in motion. Never back-pedal
while changing gear.
