Tone test
Check the grindstone for cracks and perform a sound
test for crack detection.
• The grindstone must be removed from the machine
for the sound test. The grindstone stands upright on
the floor. On a hard floor, use a piece of wood as a
support. The grindstone must be dry.
• Lightly tap the grinding disc with a non-metallic ham-
mer. A crack-free disc has a high, purely bell-like
sound. A disc that has a crack produces a muffled
sound. If the grindstone is flawless, it can be fitted.

Installing the grindstone (Fig. 2)
Only use grindstones with identical technical data (see
Technical data).
Mount the grindstone (12) and star grip screws (3) as
shown in Fig. 2.
9.4
Installing the workpiece support (1) (Fig. 2 + 3)
Then insert the workpiece support (1) into the clamp-
ing bushes and clamp it with the help of the star grip
screws. (See fig. 2)
The workpiece support (1) can be attached both to the
upper mount for workpiece support (2) and to the side
mount for workpiece support (15). This depends on
whether you wish to work with or against the grinding
direction.
9.5
Installing the water tank (Fig. 4 + 5)
Hook the water tank into the recesses (D) provided
(see Fig. 5).
10. Working instructions
ON/OFF switch (6) (Fig. 1)
• To switch on the machine, press the green "I" button.
• To switch the device off again, press the red button "0".
Grinding direction (Fig. 2 + 3)
Whether you want to work with the grinding direction
or against it depends largely on your requirements. If
you want to remove a lot of steel quickly (e.g. very old
rusty tools) or if you want to grind coarse tools such
as axes, it is better to work against the grinding direc-
tion. If you want to grind more accurately and finely, we
recommend working with the grinding direction. This is
the case, for example, with carving tools and knives.
Please note that grinding proceeds more slowly with
the direction of rotation.

Before each operation, check that the grindstone is
planar by lowering the universal support onto the stone
and turning it once by hand through 360°. If necessary,
turn off uneven material with the truing tool 250.
The Tiger is planar when delivered.
Water tank (Fig. 4 + 5)
Fill the water tank with water up to the mark. The grind-
stone absorbs water; top up water if necessary. Do not
perform grinding without water.
After grinding, lower the water tank so that the grind-
stone does not lie in the water for a long time.
Empty the water tank regularly, otherwise particles of
steel and ground stone will collect and compact in it.
Pro tip: A magnet placed in the water prevents such
deposition.
Angle gauge (Fig. 6)
Measure the angle of the grinding chamfer by compar-
ing the cutting edge with the notches. Now adjust the
angle determined in this way on the device by changing
the height of the universal support. To do this, proceed
as follows:
First clamp the tool in the fixture and place it on the
universal support.
Now hold the angle gauge with the desired angle at the
tip of the tool. Now change the height of the universal
support so that the front end of the angle gauge just
touches the grindstone.
Please make sure that the angle gauge is always
aligned with the tool tip.
Remark: The values indicated on the angle gauge are
only guidelines. You can of course vary this to suit your
requirements.
Grinding (Fig. 7)
Pro tip: On new tools, production marks can still be
seen. You can hugely extend the service life of your
tools if you grind them on both sides of the cutting
edge before the first use. Simply grind the back side
freehand on the vertical of the stone, the front side as
follows.
After setting the angle, put the tool mounted in the fix-
ture on the universal support, switch on the motor and
start grinding. Press the tool evenly onto the grindstone
near the cutting edge and move it laterally across the
stone. Make sure that at least half the width of the cut-
ting edge is always in contact with the stone to avoid
damage to the stone.
