Coding
Your personal Code Number is located on the
Identity Card for your car radio.
Coding is not
activated
when the r
the
factory.
Ifyou have
"activated" your car
radio's
coding:
As soon as you take the car radio out or dis-
connect it from the car battery (or permanent
plus clamp 30), it is electronically blocked.
Only you are abie to put it back into operation
by entering your personal Code Number
(Return to operation, page 1-27).
If th

is lost (Identity Card),
only a dealer can put the radio back into
operation after you provide proof of owner-
ship and pay a fee.

Radio is playing:
Press (UM_} button until signal sounds.
In display:
> SAFE < Coding activated, or
> CODE < Coding not activated.
Then:
Press (WH_) button until signal sounds.
Activating coding
1. Radio is playing.
2. Press (U#_) button until signal sounds:
> CODE < is in display.
After approx. 3 seconds:
>----<is in display.
If you wish to terminate "Activate coding":
Press ZH] button until signal sounds, or
switch car radio off and on again.
3. Input Code No. (see Identity Card) using
the buttons G0) ZG C2.

— briefly: 1, 2, 3, 4...(forwards)
— longer: 0, 9, 8, 7...(backwards)
until Code No. is in display.
4. Confirm Code No.:
Press GEHL) button until signal sounds:
> SAFE <is in display.
After approx. 3 seconds:
Radio plays.
The coding is activated!
Waiting periods
Wait times are required between activation
attempts so that "Return to operation" or
"Deactivate coding"
are not possible by trial and error. During
these waiting periods the car radio input
function is locked for all entries.
During the waiting period
the car radio must be switched on, with
> SAFE < in the display.
The waiting period is over when the number
attempt is visible] (in display) | (approx.)

Waiting period
after the 7th attempt is always 24 hrs.!
After the 6th attempt we recommend having a
dealer complete the "Return to operation" or
"Deactivate coding" process.
Return to operation
The car radio is electronically blocked after it
has been disconnected from the car battery
(orpermanent plus clamp 30 of your vehicle),
€.g., after it has been removed.
1. Switch on car radio:
> SAFE

After approx. 3 seconds:

2. Enter Code No. (see Identity Card) with the
buttons GI ZI GIG)

Radio piays.

Radio does not play.
Begin again.
Be sure to observe the "waiting periods"
between attempts.
Deactivate coding
e.g., before removing the car radio:
1. Radio is playing
Press (Z_} button until signal sounds:
> SAFE <is
in display.
After approx. 3 seconds:

2. Enter Code No. (see Identity Card) with the
