To ensure interference immunity in industrial environments (EN 61000-6-2), the data cables must be shiel-
ded cables and they must be used with an EMC-compliant cable gland (may be included with the module).
The shielding must be earthed on both sides.
For optimum transmission, the data line pair must be twisted for BACnet MS/TP, CANopen or Modbus RTU
and have a characteristic impedance of 120 Ω.
The CIF modules for North America are supplied with an NPT 1/4" threaded cable gland for use with Stratos
MAXO. Tightening torque +/- 10%: 0.5 Nm/0.37 lbf·ft/4.43 lb·in
DANGER
Risk of fatal electrical shock!
Before all work deactivate power supply and guard against accidental switch-on. Work on
the control module may only be started after 5 minutes have elapsed, due to the dangerous
residual contact voltage.
Check whether all connections (including potential-free contacts) are voltage-free.
Then, proceed with the electrical connection.
7.2
Electrical connection with terminals
DANGER
Risk of fatal electrical shock!
Electrical connection must be carried out by an electrician authorised by the local energy
supply company and in accordance with the applicable local regulations [e.g. VDE regula-
tions].
Carry out installation as described in the previous section.
Carry out electrical installation of the pump as specified in the relevant installation and operating instruc-
tions.
Check the technical data of the electric circuits being connected to ensure they are compatible with the
electrical specifications of the CIF module.
Connect the wires in accordance with corresponding drawing (Fig. 1 to Fig. 4).
If there is no outgoing line, then set BUS terminal resistors for RS485/CAN (both switches to "ON").
Check the terminal box gasket for any visible damage.
Close the terminal box lid with the screws provided so that the gasket is tight all around.
For RS485 the connection terminals are marked A(-) and B(+). The marking corresponds to the standard.
Nonetheless, some manufacturers mark A and B the other way around. This can result in communication
problems.
RS485 does not allow loops, star-connected wiring or spur lines. All devices must be wired in series.
