2. Ex marking
Ambient temperature range
Depending on the application, the following surface temperature and ambient
temperature ranges apply:

1) Limited by the permissible ambient temperature of the device, for further information see chapter „Specifica-
tions" in the operating instructions.
The special conditions from the type examination certificate (see chapter 5 „Special
conditions for safe use (X-conditions)") apply.
Transmitter models T38.x
The externally connected cabling or wiring shall be suitable for the temperature range
(max. 85 °C [185 °F] (or 105 °C [221 °F])) of the end-use application. The conductor
cross-section must be a minimum of 0.14 mm².
Operation in Ex areas for all zones
Operation in a hazardous atmosphere requiring category 1 equipment is only permitted
when the following atmospheric conditions exist:
Pressure: 0.8 ... 1.1 bar [11.60 ... 15.95 psi]
Operation in Ex areas for zone 1 und zone 2
The electrical parameters of the head- and rail-mounted versions are identical.
For T38.*-AI**: The intrinsically safe sensor circuit (optional 2-wire, 3-wire or 4-wire
configuration) for both versions is intended for the supply of equipment in areas with 1G
or 1D requirements.
The version T38.H-AI** has been designed for installation in cases or connection heads
in areas with zone 0, 2G or zone 20, 2D requirements.
The version T38.R-AI** is intended for installation in a case which guarantees at least
IP20 ingress protection (2G application or installation outside the hazardous area) or
IP6X (2D application).
