Producing steam to heat liquids
Fig. 20
The steam tube (without the frothing
device) can be used to make hot beverages
like drinking chocolate, water or tea.
Method:
G
Fill the reservoir with fresh water and
replace it.
G
Prepare your appliance to make steam
(see Frothing milk/making cappuccino).
G
Remove the frothing aid „j" from the
steam tube (turn as far as possible to the
left and then pull it off).
G
Do not fill the vessel right to the top.
G
Dip the steam tube into the liquid to be
heated. Turn the rotary switch „e" to the
left into the steam position
making steam (20).
Note
It is quite normal for the red heating
control lamp „f" to light up during heating
(unit heater is heating up). It is also quite
normal for the pump to make ticking
noises when making steam.
G
Turn the rotary switch „e" back to the
centre position 0 and remove the jug.

you can bring it to the boil by switching
the „d" switch down into the steam po-

.
It is quite normal for the red heating
control lamp „f" to light up during heating
water (unit heater is heating up). It is also
quite normal for the pump to make ticking
noises when making steam.
Tips
G
It is best to keep espresso coffee in the
fridge where it is protected against light
and air and keeps its flavour longer.
G
You should clean the appliance and put
fresh water into the reservoir before using
it for the first time and after it has not
been used over a longer period of time.
G
Do not overfill the filter holder.
Use the measuring spoon supplied „p".
One level spoonful is sufficient for one
cup (see Fig. 11).
G
We recommend that you use a half-litre
stainless steel jug to froth milk, but you
can also use porcelain or ceramic jugs.
G
Do not switch the appliance off
immediately after making your last
coffee. Let it continue operating for
about another minute to clear the rest of
the water from the system.
You will hear a hissing sound as the
steam expands - this is perfectly normal.
