Operating the appliance for
the first time

You should rinse the appliance before
using it for the first time by filling the
reservoir once or twice with water and
letting the water run through without
coffee.
Method:

Open the lid and remove the reservoir (1).
G
Fill the reservoir with cold water and put
it back into the appliance (2)/(3). Push
the base valve of the reservoir firmly into
position in the opening provided.
G
Insert filter holder „n": pull back the filter
lock „o" and turn the filter holder to the
right until it locks into place (4).
G
Connect the appliance according to
instructions (Follow safety instructions).
G
Push the „coffee" and „steam" selector
switch „d" up for „coffee"
switch on the appliance using ON/OFF
switch „c" (5).
G
The red heating control lamp „f" lights
up while the appliance is heating up (6).
G
After the appliance reaches operating
temperature, the red heating control
lamp „f" extinguishes and the green
operating control lamp „g" lights up.
Place a sufficiently large collecting vessel
below the brewing filter and turn the
rotary switch „e" to the right for the
coffee-making

Note
Allow all the water in the reservoir to run
through. If necessary, interrupt the process
and empty the collecting vessel. Repeat the
process once or twice.

Cup preheating

You can heat the cups on the appliance
using two different methods.
Method 1
G
Fill the water reservoir and put it into
place (1-3). Insert the filter holder „n":
pull back the filter lock „o" and turn the
filter holder to the right until it locks into
place (4).

Switch on the appliance at the ON/OFF
switch „c". Position one or two cups
below the filter holder. After the green
operating control lamp „g" lights up,
turn rotary switch „e" to the right and let
hot water pass through to warm the filter
holder and pre-heat the cups (8).

After filling the cups with hot water, turn
rotary switch „e" back into the centre
position 0.
Method 2
G
Place your espresso cups upside down
on the warming plate „h" (9) and leave
them there. When the appliance is ready
for operation, the unit heater will heat the
warming plate which then heats the cups.

Fill the water reservoir and put it into place.
G
Remove filter holder „n": pull back the
filter lock „o" and turn the filter holder as
far left as possible.

Insert the required filter insert (for one or
two cups) (10 a). Ensure during insertion
that the relevant locking cams of the filter
holder are always located between the
projections on the filter strainer (10 b).
Spoon in one or two level spoonfuls of
espresso coffee (11), push down the
coffee grounds with the stopper „p" (12)
and wipe off any coffee grounds on the
edge of the filter (13).

Pull back the filter lock „o". Now insert
the filter holder back into the brewing
head and pull it tight (14).
