Where should smoke detectors be placed?
The centre of the room ceiling is the optimal position
for the smoke detector. If it is not possible to install it
in this location, it should be installed at least 50 cm
away from walls/ obstacles.
Max. height: 6 m
Small rooms with a width of less than 1 m
and a length of maximum 2 m: Centre of the
room ceiling
Corridors with a maximum width of 3 m:
Minimum distance of 15 m between two smoke de-
tectors. Max. 7.5 m to the front and smoke detectors
in all corners / junctions between corridors.
Balconies: Additional smoke detectors are to be
provided beneath balconies with an edge length of
over 2 x 2 m and a total area of over 16 m².
