Smoke detectors must be positioned so that any smoke
that develops can be reliably, immediately and promptly
detected. The centre of the room ceiling is the optimal
position for the smoke detector.
Smoke detectors are subject to the applicable statutory
provisions in the location they are used. Ask your local
authorities about the relevant provisions!
How many smoke detectors should be installed?
At least one per bedroom / children's room
At least one per corridor / escape route
At least one per 40 m²
At least one per floor
At least one per room section if the room is divided
by high partition walls or furnishings, as these can
hinder the smoke from spreading towards the smoke
detector.
At least one in rooms in which electrical devices are
operated (e.g. portable fan heaters / air humidifiers).
