General Safety Precautions
Safety rules for the operation of the mobile shotblaster
Danger!
It is in your interest that all persons operating the system have read the following
pages carefully and take their contents to heart. Familiarise yourselves and the
operating personnel with all the machine components and their functions. If you
follow the instructions below, you will find it easy to use and operate the Shotblas-
ter efficiently.
The mobile shot blasting system has been developed in accordance with the applicable
safety precautions. The technical safety precautions must not be removed or modified un-
der any circumstances. The following points should also be observed when operating the
system:
Warning!
• Before carrying out any work on the machine, even of the smallest kind, the mains plug must be-
disconnected. However, ihr must never be unplugged while the machine is running.
• The Shotblasting machine transmits high mechanical power. There is therefore a risk of injury not
only froman electric shock, but also from rotating parts.
• The use of protective equipment such as goggles with side protection and ear defenders is requi-
red. All persons in the working area of the machine must wear this protective equipment.
• When starting the blasting machine for the first time and when lifting / tilting the machine du-
ring blasting, it is possible that abrasive may escape from the blast opening at high speed. In this
case, there is a high risk of injury to the eyes.
• Wear clothing that fits tightly to your body. Flapping pieces of clothing can get into the machine
and be pulled into it.
• All rotating parts of the machine are fitted with covers to prevent body parts, clothing or other for-
eign objects from getting into the machine.
• Leave all covers in place before activating the machine.
• Unauthorised persons must be prevented from entering the working area of the machine.
(High risk of slipping on blasting material that has been left lying around).
• If unusual running noises or increased vibrations are registered during operation of the Shotblas-
ting machine, the machine must be switched off immediately and the cause of the unusual beha-
viour investigated.
• The surface to be blasted must be checked for coarse unevenness, stones, pieces of metal and
similar before treatment. If necessary, the surface must be swept or vacuumed.
• Wet or oily areas can make the blasting process impossible and cause damage to the extraction
system.
• It is necessary to check the incoming power cables regularly, as they may have suffered mecha-
nical damage during operation of the system. (Disconnect the mains plug beforehand!) Handle all
live parts with the utmost care.
• Only tools supplied or approved by CONTEC / TYROLIT may be used.
• The machine operator must not move away from the machine during operation.
• Before leaving the shot blasting system, the machine operator must switch off the motor and se-
cure the device against unintentional movement. The mains plug must also be disconnected.
