This parameter is used to select between the internal and the optional external
barcode scanner.

Use this parameter to set the baud rate for communication with a computer (PC).

8 Emergency Operation Mode

The pump is equipped with an emergency operation mode (see Fig. 22) that enables
the user to continue to operate the pump in case the display and control unit mal-
functions. However, the user must make sure that the supplied protective cover is
attached to the connector plug.
In emergency operation mode, the pump can only be operated at two different
speeds (speed 20 and 50). The emergency operation mode starts automatically when
the electrical connection between the display and control unit and the pump is
interrupted. The start of the emergency operation mode is signaled by the switch-on
signal. If the display and control unit is connected in this mode, the emergency
operation mode is displayed as per Fig. 22. The user also has the option of restarting
the pump via the soft key to return to normal operation.
Speed
Default setting: 20

The pumping process is started by pressing the selecting knob |foot switch. The
current pumping process is stopped by re-pressing the selecting knob|foot switch.
The speed can only be changed during the pumping process. Turning the selecting
knob clockwise changes the speed from 20 to 50 (counterclockwise from 50 to 20).

9 Maintenance

We recommend that you have a trained and qualified Sartorius service technician
perform annual maintenance on your Sterisart Universal-Pump.
However, your Sterisart Universal-Pump may need maintenance at more frequent
intervals, depending on its particular use and on your specific process conditions.
