DIN EN 179 Emergency exit door locks

B Suitable for use on fire doors and smoke protection doors on the basis of testing accord-
ing to EN 1634-1
1 Suitable for critical safety function
3 High corrosion-resistance according to EN 1670:2007 Section 5.6
5 Intrusion protection up to 5,000 N
2 Overhang of the operating element up to 100 mm (normal overhang)
A Emergency exit door lock with handle activation
B or For installation in single-leaf doors only opening outward or
D for installation in single-leaf doors only opening inward

The properties of locks according to DIN EN 14846 are described by the nine-digit classification key.
Tab. 4 explains the classification key.

3 for use by the public, where there is little incentive to take care and there is a high likeli-
hood of misuse, such as in doors in public buildings
C 200.000 test cycles, no stress of the latch
2 Door weight up to 200 kg, maximum closing force of 50 N
C suitable for use in fire and smoke protection doors with a classification time of 30 min

0 no defined resistance to corrosion, temperature and air humidity
