5. That the area has an access point allowing
the operator to safely connect to the anchor-
ing device.
5.2. Installation
The following installation procedure refers to
Figure 2.
The Tractel Tracrod base fall arrest anchors
®
can be installed on different types of reception
structures:
Can be installed on a concrete type of re-
ception structure (ref. 16) using two chem-
ical or mechanical dowels or on a metal
structure (ref. 8) using two bolts (ref. 9, 10,
12) not supplied with the anchoring device.
"DANGER": The anchor device fasteners
must be installed vertically at ±1°.
"BE CAREFUL". Exceeding the fixing
pins of the anchoring point (ref. 9) of the
installation surface (fig. 1, ref. 2) by 33mm
and 28 mm will cause the installation sur-
face to protrude.
"DANGER": The tensile strength of each
fastener must be at least 1150 daN and
12 mm in diameter
"DANGER": All screws, nut and M12 fixing
bolt must be tightened to a torque of
5 ± 0.5 daN.m.
Installation procedure for the serrated washer as
per figure 2b:
f) Installation of the washers and M12 nuts.
(fig. 2b).
f.1) Install the base (fig. 2b, ref. 3) on both M12
chemical anchor bolts (fig. 2b, ref. 9) with
the vertical rectangular hole (fig. 2b, ref. 4b)
in the down position. Anchor bolts must not
protrude from the base by over 33 mm (28
mm min).
f.2) Install the M12 washer (fig. 2b, ref. 12) and
an M12 lock nut (fig. 2b, ref. 10) on the lower
M12 bolt of the chemical anchorage.
f.3) Position the base (fig. 2b, ref. 3) vertically
using the spirit level on the side of the base
(fig. 2b, ref. 21), then tighten the M12 nut to
the recommended torque of 5+/- 0.5 daN.m
using the no. 19 socket torque wrench.
f.4) Install the special serrated washer (fig. 2b,
ref. 5) the M12 nut (fig. 2b, ref. 10) on the
M12 bolt of the upper chemical anchorage
(fig. 2b, ref. 9), with the washer ribs (fig. 2b,
ref. 23) engaged in the vertical ribs of the
base (fig. 1, ref. 22).
IMPORTANT: Position the serrated washer
(fig, 2b, ref. 5) using the positioning surfaces
of the ribbed washer to ensure the washer
rib locks properly to the vertical base rib.
f.5) Install and tighten the M12 lock nut to the
recommended torque of T=5+/- 0.5 daN.m
using the no. 19 socket torque wrench.
f.6) Installation check:
– Check that the M12 lock nuts are correctly
tightened to the recommended torque of
T=5+/- 0.5 daN.m. If this is not the case,
tighten them to the recommended torque
of T=5+/- 0.5 daN.m.
– Check that the serrated washer is correctly
positioned. If not, repeat the installation
with another serrated washer.
e) Mark with a permanent marker the month
and year of the first periodic inspection on the
label indicating the date of the next periodic
inspection (mark 19) and place it in the loca-
tion marked 'aa' on the marking area of the
anchor point.
f) Write in permanent marker the date of first
commissioning in the box marked 'ae' of the
marking area of the anchorage point. Then
sign in permanent marker in the box provided
for this purpose.
Installation completed
"DANGER": The basic Tracrod anchor
devices must be fixed with two M12 fasteners
(refs. 9, 10, 12) and the serrated washer
provided by Tractel (ref. 5).
