Required preliminary setting if not using Live View mode
1. In the main camera menu, (see p. 150/240) select

Selecting the metering method
1. In the picture parameters menu (see p. 150/240) select

2. select the desired metering method in the sub-menu:
– Only a small area in the center of the image is

rectangle in the center of the monitor image.
– Similar to the

– This metering method is based on detection of

multiple metered values. The values are used in an algorithm
to calculate an exposure value appropriate to the situation,
resulting in correct reproduction of the assumed main
subject.

Notes:
• For the metering methods based on the image sensor, the
shutter must be open and it is then closed and re-cocked when
the function is canceled. Of course, this is audible and may
result in a slight delay in the shutter release.
• Frequent use of the Live View mode results in increased power
consumption.
The appropriate shutter speed for correct exposure, or the
variation from a correct exposure setting, are specified or
determined using displays in the viewfinder or monitor (see
following sections).
