Overflow valves ÜV 160 / ÜV 200
If, according to building regulations, overflow shutters are allowed to be arranged next to and above each other, min-
imum distances of 200 mm (distance between the outer surfaces of the spiral ducts that serve as sleeves or of the
installation sleeves) must be observed in terms of fire protection according to the general technical approval (Z-19.18-
2180-BAKBTK). The minimum distances required for fire protection from overflow shutters to load-bearing structural
components must be 75 mm.
The overflow valve must be installed in such a way that internal inspection and cleaning of the individual com-
ponents (BAK and/or KAK) is easily possible.
When installing the overflow valve, it is essential to pay attention to the correct flow direction (see air direction
arrow) and the correct installation position (see marking "TOP")!
2.3 Overflow valve installation
The overflow valve is intended for installation in walls. The required diameter of the core hole is 260 mm (ÜV 200)
and 220 mm (ÜV 160) for a solid wall. Depending on the wall thickness, the overflow valve protrudes into the airlock,
anteroom or the necessary corridor.
Adjust duct length:
Using the lasered scale on the duct sleeve, the duct can be shortened to the required length with the help of an angle
grinder. There are circumferential marking rings on the duct at a distance of 10 mm (see Fig. 1).
Min. and max. duct lengths must be taken into account depending on the design, see the following tables or
length overview 3.4. Duct lengths incl. protrusion, max. Protrusion see Chap. Accessories 5.2.
The min. duct length, flow direction and installation position of the ÜV 160 / ÜV 200 must be observed so that the in-
duct fire damper BAK 160 / BAK 200 and the cold smoke shutter with magnetic closure KAK 160 / KAK 200 are not
blocked or obstructed in their function and function without restriction.
The overflow valve must be inserted and mortared into the core hole.
Before mortaring, the ÜV 160 / ÜV 200 must be locked at three symmetrically distributed points in the core hole.
The approx. 30 mm circumferential joint must be filled with mortar of mortar group III according to DIN 1996-3.
The use of silicone is not permitted!
The joint width should not exceed 2 mm for drywall constructions. Residual gaps between the installation sleeve and
the wall opening soffit must be filled circumferentially and completely with non-combustible building materials.
– Installation must be carried out with the marking "Pressure side" in the direction of the area with higher
differential pressure.
– The ÜV 160 / ÜV 200 must be inserted into the wall with the marking "TOP" facing upwards.
– The function of the cold smoke shutter with magnetic closure KAK 160 / KAK 200 must be checked after
installation.
– The function of the in-duct fire damper BAK 160 / BAK 200 and/or the cold smoke shutter with magnetic
closure KAK 160 / KAK 200 must not be impaired, prevented or restricted by the installation situation.
– The ÜV 160 / ÜV 200 must be installed in the wall in such a way that a minimum distance of 50 mm is main-
tained between the BAK 160 / BAK 200 and the two wall sides.
— Protection grilles / covers
Installation of the overflow valve without tamper protection is not permitted.
Covers must also be attached to the sides of the overflow valve as protection grilles consisting of non-combustible
metallic materials with a melting point > 1000°C and a mesh size ≤ 20 m.
The rectangular protection grille with screen ÜVB 200 (suitable for ÜV 200) or the metal disc valve MTVA 160 / MTVA
200 (suitable for ÜV 160 or ÜV 200) must be attached on the sides of the overflow valve.
Depending on the wall thickness, a rectangular protection grille with screen ÜVB 200 (suitable for ÜV 200) or a cover
sleeve with protection grille ÜVH 200/50 / ÜVH 200/110 (suitable for ÜV 200) or a metal disc valve MTVA 160/MTVA
200 (suitable for ÜV 160 or ÜV 200) must also be attached on the opposite side of the overflow valve for coverage.
The rectangular screen with protective grille (ÜVB 200) is provided with a threaded pin M8 and two nuts M8 to connect
the screen to the protection grille. The screen can be used to adjust the flow rate by rotating. The second nut is used
to lock the screen in place after adjustment.
The rectangular screen with protection grille (ÜVB 200) and the cover sleeve with protection grille (ÜVH 200/50 or ÜVH
200/110) must be fastened to the wall with customer-provided screws. Rectangular screen with protection grille ÜVB
200 with 4 screws, cover sleeve with protection grille ÜVH 200/50 or ÜVH 200/110 with 3 screws.
The metal disc valve MTVA 160 / MTVA 200 can be inserted directly into the steel duct sleeve. To set the desired flow
rate, tighten the locknut to the desired position.
