Intended purpose
medi Epico ROMs Kidz is an elbow brace
for mobilisation with immobilisation of
the proximal radioulnar articulation.
Indications
All indications that require early
functional mobilisation of the elbow
joint with limitation of the range of
motion and immobilisation of the
proximal radioulnar articulation, such
as:
• Surgical fixation of medial and/or
lateral collateral ligaments
• Conservative therapy of dislocated
elbows
• Surgery on dislocated elbow fractures
• Medial or lateral collateral ligament
reconstructive surgery
• Surgically treated bicep or tricep tears
• Ensuring a positive outcome for
healing following prosthetic limb
treatment
Contraindications
• Wound healing issues and wound
infections
• Skin issues when open wounds are
present
• Concomitant neurological damage, e.g.
ulnar nerve
• Compartment syndrome
Risks / Side Effects
If the aids are too tight, this can cause
local pressure sores or constriction of
blood vessels or nerves. Therefore you
should consult the doctor treating you
before you use it if the following
circumstances apply to you:
• Condition or injury of the skin in the
area of application, particularly with
infectious indications (excessive heat,
swelling or reddening)
• Paraesthesia and circulatory disorders
(e.g. as seen in diabetes, varicose veins)
• Lymph drainage disorders – equally,
swelling of soft tissue adjacent to the
area of application which is not related
to a condition
When wearing snug-fitting aids, this can
result in localised skin inflammation or
irritation that is due to mechanical
irritation of the skin (particularly in
conjunction with sweating) or due to the
composition of the material.
Intended patient groups
Healthcare professionals should provide
care to the adults and children, applying
the available information on the
measurements/sizes and necessary
functions/indications and in line with
the information provided by the
manufacturer, and acting under their
own responsibility.
Setting the flexion and extension
limits
The medi Epico ROMs Kidz brace comes
with an extension and flexion angle of
0° pre-installed. The ChronoLock device
ensures that the degree setting on the
brace articulation cannot be changed by
accident (e.g. if the brace experiences an
impact).
In order to limit flexion and/or extension,
continuously turn the ChronoLock wheel
until the control window is under the
arrow of the grey fixation button (Fig. 1).
Now, you can set first the limitation of
flexion and then the limitation of
extension by pressing the grey button
(Figs. 2+3). To lock everything is securely
in place, turn the ChronoLock wheel to a
neutral position outside the setting
range for flexion and extension (Fig. 4).

Limitation of extension: 0°-120°
