TRACKING
(AUTO) indicator
AUTO TRACKING SYSTEM.
@ The TRACKING (AUTO) indicator remains lit as long as
the Auto Tracking mode is engaged.
If automatic tracking fails, and noise bars are
visible on the screen, use the manual tracking mode.

automatic mode. To remove noise bars from the screen,
set the METER SELECT switch @ to TRACKING and turn
the TRACKING control @ until the meter @ achieves
maximum deflection.
S-VHS indicator
Lights when the S-VHS recording mode is selected and an
S-VHS tape is loaded.
Lights when an S-VHS recording is played back.
Lights when a blank section of VHS tape is played back.
Cassette indicator
Lights when a cassette tape is inserted.
Operation buttons
AUDIO DUB button: Dubbing is possible on the normal
audio-2 track. For audio dubbing, press the AUDIO DUB
button and the PLAY button simultaneously while the
VCR is in the Still or Play mode. The AUDIO DUB LED will
light.
REC
button: Press together with the PLAY button for
recording. Audio will be recorded on ail channels if
signals are provided. The REC and PLAY LEDs will light
during recording. When the REC button is pressed during
playback,
the
monitor
screen
switches
from
the
playback picture to the E-E mode picture, so you can
monitor the signals applied to the input terminals.
PLAY button: Press to start playback. The PLAY LED will
light. Press together with the REC button for recording.
PAUSE/STILL button: Press to stop the tape temporarily
during recording or playback. The PAUSE/STILL LED will
light. To advance the still picture frame by frame, press
this button while in the Still mode. To release, press the
button corresponding to the mode you wish to engage
next (except EJECT, REC, and AUD DUB).
EJECT button: Press to eject the cassette. Press in the
Stop mode or immediately after the STOP button has
been pressed.
FF button: Press to advance the tape at high speed. While
the tape is fast forwarding, the FF LED will remain lit. This
button can be pressed in any mode except Record or
Audio Dub. Pressing the FF button in the Play or Search
mode enables high-speed playback at about 9 times
normal speed in the forward direction. During search both
the PLAY and FF LEDs will remain lit. To release the Fast
Forward mode, press the button corresponding to the
mode you wish to engage next (except REC, EJECT and
AUD DUB).
