PLAYBACK AND SEARCH
@ Press the MAINS POWER switch on the rear panel to ON.
@ Press the OPERATE switch on the front panel to ON.
@ Insert a video cassette tape in the cassette loading slot.
© Setthe TRACKING switch to AUTO.

Setthe SYNC select switch to INT or VIDEO.
e \f an external sync signal is used, set it to EXT.
@ Set the AUDIO MONITOR SELECT switches as required.
@ Check the Memory Switch settings. (See page 5.)
Switch 01:
Set to ON
if a timebase

PREPARATION
Switch 22:
When
feeding
the playback
signal to
another recorder for dubbing in the video
signal domain, set to ON.
Switch 41: | Dolby ON or OFF.
Switch 43: _ If time code reading is required,
Switch 44:
When using the rear panel AUDIO OUT
NORM/Hi-Fi connectors, set to ON for Hi-Fi
output, and OFF for normal audio output.
NOTE:
if a video signal is applied to either VIDEO
IN connector,
playback is automatically locked to the video signal. If the
sync signal contained in this video signal is unstable, the
playback picture will be distorted when the SYNC switch is in
the VIDEO position. If this happens, reset the switch to INT to
engage the internal sync mode.
PLAYBACK
PROCEDURE
@ Press the PLAY button. The tape will start running and the
playback picture will appear on the monitor screen.
@
Press the STOP button to stop playback.
AUTO TRACKING SYSTEM.
This
recorder
incorporates
a digital tracking system
for
automatic
tracking
adjustment.
When
the Auto
mode
is
selected, manual tracking adjustment is not necessary in most
cases.
@ When
you start playback,
the digital tracking
system
automatically adjusts the tape path relative to the heads to
obtain the best possible pictures.
® Automatic tracking adjustment also takes place when the
playback output level drops below a certain level.
@ The TRACKING (AUTO) indicator remains lit as long as the
Auto Tracking mode is engaged.
@ While the system is searching for optimum tracking, the
TRACKING (AUTO) indicator blinks.
If automatic tracking fails, and noise bars are visible on the
screen, use the manual tracking mode.
e Set the TRACKING
select switch to OFF to cancel the
automatic mode. To remove noise bars from the screen, set
the METER
SELECT
switch to TRACKING
and turn the
TRACKING
control
until the meter
achieves
maximum
deflection.
e@ Readjustment of tracking is necessary if CTL pulses are
interrupted.
EE MONITORING DURING PLAYBACK
-
If you wish to monitor the signal applied to the input connector
during playback, press the REC button in the Play mode. The
input signal will appear on the monitor screen.
NOTE:
Do not press the REC and PLAY buttons simultaneously,
otherwise the unit will enter the Record
mode
and any
recordings on the tape will be erased.
