Operations of the CDC-Mechanism
(see figures on following pages)
The CDC mechanism consists of tray-loader system with an elevator
called "magazine" 37 in its back that can hoid up to 7 discs. The CD-
pickup unit 40/60 (CDM12.1 mechanism) is in the middle of the CDC
mechanism.
The tray motor 3 is responsible for both tray 41 and magazine 37
movement. Which part it moves depends on a clutch 12 controlled by
a big cam 25/26 in the middle of the CDC mechanism. The big cam
driven by a cam motor 30 has 3 positions called play, tray move and
magazine move.

Der gesamte Bewegungsablauf (einschlieBlich der Sensorrtick-
meldungen) des CDC-Laufwerks wird von 2 Motoren, 2 Photosen-
soren und mehreren Schaltern gesteuert. In nachstehender Tabelle
sind die Funktionen der Schalter und Sensoren kurz beschrieben:

The complete operation (including feedback sensing) of the CDC
mechanism is controlled by 2 motors, 2 photo sensors and several
switches. A quick reference of the switches' and sensors' functions are
given in the table below:

Durch Ausschalten und erneutes Einschalten mit der Netztaste kann
das CDC-Laufwerk in ,, Transportstellung" gebracht werden.
Das ausgefahrene CD-Fach 35/36 wird zurlick ins Magazin gescho-
ben und das Kurvenrad 25/26 geht auf Magazinposition. Der Disk-
Sperrstift 19 arretiert die Platten im Magazin und es wird nach oben
geschoben. Dadurch kénnen die Disks wahrend dem Transport nicht
aus dem Magazin fallen. Auch die einzelnen Magazinfacher konnen
nicht herausrutschen, denn es besteht kein Leerraum zwischen den
F&chern.
Funktion
Die Schubladebesteht aus einer 4uBeren Schublade 41 gemeinsam
fur alle CDs undinnen einem CD-Fach 35/36 fir jede einzelne CD. Das
CD-Fach, das die CD tragt, wird von einer Zahnstange 50 bewegt.
Jedes CD-Fach hat einen Schlitz (a), in den die Zahnstange eingreift,
wenn das Magazin diese Disk-Position anlauft. Die Zahnstange zieht
das CD-Fach aus dem Magazin. Erreicht das Fach die auBere Schub-
lade, 6ffnen sich Schublade und Fach. Der gesamte Bewegungsab-
lauf beruht aufdem Zusammenspiel des Schubladenmotors 3, Rie-
mens 9 und der Zahnrader A/B/C. Eine mechanische Verriegelung
(Sperrhebel 4§) von CD-Fach und Schublade verhindert, daB der
Benitzer diese Teile unbeabsichtigterweise auseinandernimmt. Ist
die Schublade geschlossen, schiebt die Zahnstange 50 das Fach
zurtick ins Magazin. Die Rastfedern (b) rechts hinten halten die
einzelnen Facher im Magazin fest.

Transportation mode
The CDC mechanism can be set into ,Transportation mode" by
switching the mains power off and then on again.
The current CD shelf 35/36 returns into the magazine and the big cam
25/26 turns to the magazine move position. The disc lock pin 19 locks
the discs in the magazine and the magazine moves up to the highest
position. By doing this the discs in the magazine are prevented from
falling off during transportation. The CD shelfs in the magazine are also
protected against slipping because there is no blank location between
CD shelfs.
Operations
The tray consists of an outer tray 41 which is the same for all discs and
an inner CD shelf 35/36 for each individual disc. The CD shelf which
actually holds the disc is moved by a tooth-bar called toothed rack 50.
Each CD shelf has a slot (a) in which the toothed rack engages when
the magazine chooses that particular disc position. The toothed rack
pulls the CD shelf out of the magazine. When it reaches the outer tray,
both the outer tray and CD shelf opens. All the movements are done
by the combination of the tray motor 3, belt 9 and gears A/B/C. A
mechanical locking (Lever 46) between the CD shelf and outer tray
prevents accidental separation by the customer. When the tray is
closed the toothed rack 50 pushes the CD sheif back in the magazine.
At the right back of the magazine are springs (b) that will hold each CD
shelf in position within the magazine.
