WARNING
Make sure you are familiar with the operating instructions before you
use this motor.
This motor, its attachments and accessories must only be used for
the purpose for which they were designed.
For product liability and safety reasons any modification to the motor
or its accessories, which may have an influence on the product
liability, must be agreed upon by the technical authority of the
manufacturer.
To prevent personal injury and long term risks:
– If the motor is to be used in explosive environment filter/
silencers must be installed at the motor outlet ports.
– Before any adjustment operation – disconnect the motor from the
air line.
– Mind your hands, hair and clothing – always keep well away
from rotating parts.
Installation
Mounting positions
The motor is normally mounted in a horizontal position with the
filler/breather plug (5) towards the top, see Fig. 1. It may also be mounted
with the shaft vertically downwards, see Fig.2.
Setting up may be carried out either in the form of front mounting with the
flange plate (33) or in the form of foot mounting using a foot bracket –
optional, please see sales leaflet.
Motor crank case lubrication
As supplied the motor has been run up and tested using protective oil and
then drained for transit.
It is vital to refill the motor case according to following instructions
before use.
Filling horizontally mounted motor – Fig. 1
– Remove the filler/breather plug (5) and the plug (71/2a).
– Fill up with recommended type of oil and quantity (see table) to the hole
for plug (71) for MZR 03/07/11 or (2a) for MZR 17/24.
Remove the O-ring (6) and refit the plugs (5 and 71/ 2a).

– Remove the filler/breather plug (5) and the plug (71). Ensure that the
breather plug is in the vertical position. It may be necessary to fit an
elbow between the plug and the motor.
– Fill up with recommended type of oil and quantity (see table) and check
the oil level with the lower mark of the dipstick (73).
Remove the O-ring (6) and refit the plug (5). Tighten the dipstick (73).
MZR 11/17/24
– Remove the filler/breather plug (5) and the plug (2) for MZR 11 or (2b)
for MZR 17/24. Ensure that the breather plug is in the vertical position. It
may be necessary to fit an elbow between the plug and the motor.

– Fill up with recommended oil (see table) and check that the oil level is
up to the hole for the level plug (2/2b).
Remove the O-ring (6) and refit the plugs (5 and 2/2b).
Air supply
• The motor is designed for a working pressure (e) of max. 8 bar =
800 kPa (120 psi).
Data presented in the catalogue are valid at 6.3 bar (e) = 630 kPa
(90 psi)
Note
Before running the motor for the first time, inject some light oil
into the inlet connection to ensure adequate lubrication until
the airline lubrication is established.
The motor should not be allowed to race. Always operate
within the catalogue speed curves.

• The compressed air should be dry and clean.
Before connecting to the air supply blow out the airline to remove any
loose scale, swarf or abrasive dust which may be present.
• The air motor should be lubricated with oil.
Always use lubricants of good quality. The oils mentioned in the chart
are examples of lubricants which are recommended.
• Recommended hose/tube sizes, please see separate table.
The motor is normally supplied with the inlet adaptor plate (75). All motors
are reversible. Use the inlet ports A or B for the shaft rotations indicated in
Fig. 1.
For unidirectional operation leave the other port open and pipe it
downwards if exposed to the atmosphere.
If the motor is to be used in explosive environment filter/
silencers must be installed at the motor outlet ports.
For non-reversible running the motor may be operated by a simple
shut-off valve. One hose or pipe connects the motor and valve.
For reversible running the motor may be operated by a 5-port valve.
Two hoses or pipes connect valve with the motor inlet ports.
Note
A damping of the motor sound is obtained by connecting a
silencer to the motor exhaust port. Further silencing is
obtained by leading away the exhaust by a hose to a separate
exhaust chamber.
Mainteneance
The oil level in the motor casing must be maintained. The frequency of
replenishment will depend upon the application and usage.
The motor casing should be drained and refilled after 25 hours of initial
running and every 200 hours thereafter or sooner if found necessary (e.g.
contamination of oil by water from the air line).
Good service life is offered if the air motor under normal operation
conditions is dismantled for overhaul and cleaning every 12 months ore
earlier after 2000 hours running. If the motor is in heavy duty service it
should be overhauled more frequently.
