You can use a balsa plane or a coarse sanding
plate for the tapering.
The spreader is also needed now. To do so,
stick together parts 131.
Next, screw the spreader onto the cap with
screws 202. However, do not stick it all to-
gether yet, as you may still want to stain it.
Next, attach the topmast (the upper section of
the mast).
To do so, taper the 10 mm round rod item 127
so that the bars in the lower point have a di-
ameter of 8 mm at a length of around 110 mm.
You can check this very easily using the cap.
At the top end, the topmast should have a
diameter of 6 mm.
Create a recess for the subsequent fid 143 at a
distance of 15 mm from the bottom end of the
topmast. To do so, drill 2 holes of 2 mm and
file out the space in between.

Finally, drill a hole of 4.5 mm into the bottom of
the mast.
Now the mast is ready to stain.

After staining, stick together the parts of the
mast, lower cap 135 and upper cap 137 and
brackets 136.
