3.4 Hazard warnings
3.4.1 General hazard warnings
Observe the safety instructions
The device uses a voltage range that can pose a hazard for humans and animals. It must not be opened or dismantled
except by authorised and qualified persons. Similarly, maintenance and repairs must be performed by a qualified elec-
trician or an authorised repair shop. The owner/operator operates the device on their own liability and at their risk.
Risk of falling due to connecting cable:
• Do not route cables and hoses within the traffic area of the work area.
• Never touch the hot wire
• Switch off the device when not in use
Danger: Risk of electric shock
• Only connect the device to a socket outlet (230 V) with a PE contact that has been correctly installed by a qualified
electrician. Couplings and connecting lines must be splash-proof. Use only if the power cables are in perfect conditi-
on.
• When working outdoors or in a damp environment, be sure to use an extension cable approved for outdoor use and
to use a residual current device.
Risk of fire and explosion
• Working in areas with explosion protection is prohibited. The device is not explosion-protected and can, in the worst
case, trigger an explosion in these areas during operation due to the hot wire.
• A functional fire extinguisher must be kept available at all times.
3.4.2 Personal protective equipment (PPE)
Warning: Risk of injury if PPE is not used -
DANGERS DUE TO TOXIC MATERIALS OR FUMES
• Smoke is always generated when cutting the insulation boards with the hot wire; the user and persons in the work
area must protect themselves against this with PPE.
• PPE includes safety glasses, respiratory protection, protective / work gloves, protective clothing.
• Ask the board manufacturer for details of possible exposure before processing and read the Material Safety Data
Sheets (MSDSs).
• You must ensure optimum ventilation if operating the device indoors
• When using the device always wear protective gloves to avoid the risk of burns on the hot wire.
3.5 Responsibility of the operating company
The operating company must ensure the following:
• The device must only be used in the intended manner.
• The device must be maintained in accordance with the specifications in this operating manual.
• The device must only be operated in accordance with local guidelines and occupational health and safety regulati-
ons.
• All precautions are taken to avoid dangers arising from the device.
• All precautions are taken for first aid care and fire fighting.
3.6 Organisation/personnel
3.6.1 Operators
• Before starting to use the device, the operator must have read and understood the operating manual.
• Only authorised and trained operators must have access to the device in order to operate it.
• The operating manual must be available to the operator at all times.
• The operator must not be under the influence of alcohol, drugs or medication.
• Children, performance-impaired persons, and pregnant women are not allowed to operate the device.
