It is important to always wait 2 to 3 seconds between each measurement so that the device can
calibrate itself. If you place the coins too quickly one after the other, there may be deviations in
the measured values. Sometimes the auto-calibration can take a little longer. If you are unsure
whether the displayed value is really correct, remove the test object and wait a few seconds
more before placing the object again.
The test objects must be at least 0.8 mm to 1 mm thick; blisters and capsules can be up to 3
mm thick. Not all materials shield in the same way. If there are metallic components in the
supposed plastic packaging, no reliable or meaningful measurement can be guaranteed. Our test
measurements with e.g. NGC packages have shown that these are too thick (on the inside, there
is another air gap between the plastic and the coin). Unfortunately, such packaging cannot be
measured. The minting and the height of the edge (especially with coins) can cause a
discrepancy, even if it is not a fake. Always place all of your objects with the front and the back
side on the device.
