Description of the operating/setting elements and function or signifi-
cance of these in the data window (7-10).
POINT SAMPLING (7)
This feature reduces the point number of the signal breadth, this is useful particular-
ly for overlapping signals as, here, the ray can be reduced to the mean value.
AUTO SET (8)
This field is identical with the "Auto" symbol in the main window. If you click on to
this symbol, the automatic set-up is started, i.e. all parameters (settings such as
volts/div, time basis, trigger etc.) are adapted optimally to the adjoining measuring
signal.
Data display (9)
The relevant measuring data (e.g. cursor data) are displayed here.
Function menu (10)
These functions are identical with those in the main window (graphical symbols (1)).
FFT mode:
Operation of the adjustment elements is almost comparable with operation of the
DSO mode of operation.
There are differences in the following function:
If you click on to a (+) amplitude maximum (=upper tip of a sinus curve) with the
mouse pointer, the delimitation lines (cursor) to the frequency determination are acti-
vated (for FFT measurement, no measurement of the amplitude is possible). A green
co-ordinate axis appears on the selected point. The data collected (frequency) are
displayed directly below the scope screen.
These cursor lines are not necessarily required to establish the frequency. If you only
approach the peaks of the measuring signal with the mouse pointer, a frequency dis-
play also appears. In this case, the mouse pointer can be compared with a marker.
The range which can be displayed (whole width of the screen) comprises 10 MHz
(DSO-220 USB) or 50 MHz (DSO-2100 USB). The time base can be set, however, to
a max. of 50 µs/div.
The measurable frequency of a measuring signal is limited through this to 10 MHz
(DSO-220 USB) or 50 MHz (DSO-2100 USB).

Installation

Connecting the hardware
Switch on the computer and start the operating system.
Connect the USB connecting cable to a free USB port on your computer and then to
the DSO on the USB port (B).
Installation of the hardware drivers
The operating system recognises new hardware and starts the hardware assistant.
Follow the instructions on the monitor until the adjustment option "Search for the
best driver" appears.
Select "Continue" and then "Search".
Insert the enclosed CD-Rom into your drive and select the corresponding drive letter
and the directory folder "Driver" in the input menu.
Click on to the input button "OK" and follow the instructions on the monitor. When
installation has been completed, the system will be re-started to update the new set-
tings.
Installation of the measuring software
Insert the software CD supplied in the relevant drive and close it. The automatic start
mode will start installation of the measuring software automatically.
If this does not take place automatically, then simply start the program "setup.exe"
manually by double-clicking in the Explorer of your operating system on the drive in
which the CD-ROM has been inserted. The installation of the software will com-
mence.
Please follow then the further instructions on your monitor.
In the program manager of the start menu, a new folder "DIGITAL OSC" is created.

Initial operation

In the following sub-section, the operating modes DSO and FFT are described with
the necessary information for adjustment. First of all, however, some general infor-
mation:
• The frequency which can be displayed may not exceed 5MHz (DSO-200 USB) or
30MHz (DSO-2100 USB) per channel.
• The scanning frequency of the digital storage oscilloscope is 20 MS/s (DSO-220
USB) (i. e: 20 mega samples per second) or 100 MS/s (DSO-2100 USB). 4 scans are
necessary for clean display of the signal (5 MHz times 4 scans/ samples = 20 MS/s).
